The test wasn't too difficult.. well for Renée it was the simplest and thing she understood in maths. She also managed to help Luciana and Drake answer theirs without getting caught. Some students mumbled and grumbled as the bell rang, causing them to leave the class, others casted curious glances at Renée. Everyone knew that the princess of the Royal Moon pack was very choosy with her friends.
"Hey Rex! How was the test?". As they made their way to the cafeteria for lunch, Luciana called out to another classmate who was leisurely strolling out with his friends.
He rushed over with a look of suprise "My, my am I glad to see you princess. Its final year but you of all people don't give a damn".
"Shhhh. You know nothing. I'm just in school cause of prom". She giggled. "So tell me how did you answer your questions?". She inquired as they kept walking ahead, with Renée and Rex on both sides and Drake besides Renée.
"I just chose random answers. There was this particular question where we were asked to find 'x'. So I just circled the x in each of the questions. Pretty smart right?".
Renée burst into laughter, earning looks from other students passing by but she couldn't care less. Luciana and Drake joined in but Rex could only raised an eyebrow in confusion.
"There were twenty questions, bro you've just failed more than half". Drake explained in between his laughter.
Rex's face paled. "Holy shit."
They arrived at the cafeteria, Luciana chose a table at the corner to avoid drawing attention. Soon they were munching on hamburger and fries.
"I suppose we should have a proper introduction. Renée, meet my best friends Rex and Drake, they are wizards and they're gay too, that's the only reason why Raymond hasn't gotten rid of them yet". She giggled at the last part.
The two guys both crossed their hands over their chest. "Wow, such great love for us". They said simultaneously.
"Do you guys do that all the time?". Renée asked.
Rex shrugged. "Just once in a while".
"Guys meet my newest sister". The cafeteria was noisy and no one seemed to be paying attention to their table. "She's my brother's mate". She leaned closer and whispered.
"Holy shit" The guys swore at the same time.
"You ended up being with that hottie. My eyes have been on him since I was a toddler". Rex tried to force out a few fake tears.
"So you're a princess now so am I supposed to curtsy". Drake stood up and tried to curtsy.
"That looks like you're taking a poop".
"Ouch". He could only sit down in embarrassment and Rex snickered in his face.
"Took the words right out of my mouth sister. High five!".
The two girls high-fived and even Rex joined in.
"So there's going to be a coronation ceremony at the end of the week".
"So I was told". Renée sighed.
"Don't worry, we're all here for you". Drake reassured with a grin on his face showing that he is the most excited for the coronation.
"Invitation cards would be sent far and near starting today. Then there's a lot of preparations to be made. I'm hoping you guys can help".
"Count us both in. Renée tell us more about yourself. I'm a little jealous of how you could steal my dream guy". Rex added the last part with a dramatic tone.
"My name is Renée. I've been human all my life to the best of my memories. My mother is dead so I moved here with my father. That's basically everything there is to know, I met Luciana on my first day, missed school two to three days later, met Lucian in the school hallways on the day I return . Since then I've been hanging out with them until I found out everything".
"Woah, your mum's death must have been really hard on you. How's your father faring?" Drake reached out to pay her back.
She rolled her eyes and responded casually. "He's probably in hell."
"Why would you say such?". The guys looked confused.
"I killed him. The end".
"That's one tragic ending. I'm sure there's a logical explanation". The two guys shrugged it off as something normal, it was Renée's to be confused.
"You guys don't hate me?".
"Why should we?". Rex asked with a smile. "We've all taken a life once you know. It's either kill or be killed. No biggie".
Tears welled up in her eyes and upon seeing this Luciana pulled her into a hug. "I told you it's nothing to be worried about".
"Please don't cry or Prince Lucian would sense it". Drake panicked and hastily explained. "We know you recently got marked. We can sense it even though the fur brains around here can't since there's some sort of shield thanks to Luciana. Mates can feel each other's emotions so if you're sad, Lucian would sense it".
"I'm so sorry guys". She chuckled. "I didn't mean to get so emotional". She wiped her eyes and gave a reassuring smile.
Luciana spaced out for a minute and smiled mischievously as she returns to reality. "Come on guys, I managed to get us permits to take the rest of the week off. The principal approves".
The others stared at her in horror.
"Oh come on, stop looking at me in such a way. I told him that the crown princess was feeling under the weather from being away from her mate for too long. He didn't even let me finish and asked that we take the rest of the week off". She laughed heartily.
Renée facepalmed. "So you scared the shit outta him, how do we spend the rest of today then?".
"Hanging out together. Who knows if we can help this single bones find their second half".
"Are'nt they a thing?".
"Not really, we are not fated. We've only had a few flings". Rex answers and Drake rolls his eyes.
"Fine by me".
They were done with lunch and they all grabbed their bags with a promise to meet at the entrance.
Luciana had to use the bathroom so Renée was the first to arrive at the entrance, she strolled towards the parking lot, her sights were fixed on her phone, she was trying to reply Lucian's numerous messages which she had ignored all morning. She bumped into someone and before she could fall down on her butt, he grabbed her by the waist. Miraculously, she didn't drop her phone, she stared into warm amber eyes that seemed to remind her of someone from her past.
Wierdly, her body felt uncomfortable with him holding her and was shooting danger signals in her head. She quickly pulled away as her mark was beginning to tingle painfully. The guy was surprised at her quick detach but he quickly masked his expression.
"I'm sorry and thank you". She mutters.
"It's a pleasure to be able to save a beautiful lady like yourself from falling". He replied, he took a better look at her and a name came to his mind, his mind was filled with guilt as he stared at his close friends who he had ditched. She had changed so much, even her looks could now rival most girls.
Uhhh. She stared at him awkwardly. "Thanks for the compliment". She started walking away without another glance at him.
That stung him real badly.
"I'm Kyle. I hope you still remember me Renée".
She stopped for a second and kept walking ahead. She now recalled him, she had attended the same junior Highschool with him and had a huge crush on him. Be then she has already been abused so much by her father and was slowly becoming detached from anyone. Everytime she tried to talk to him, she would recall the threats and worry that her father might try to hurt him. Somehow, he found out, the who school found out and he insulted her with pure disdain laced in his voice. "Dirty wretch, how dare you even try to have a crush on me. You're not even good enough for me. In fact you can never be good enough for anyone. Bitch". She cried so much that day, not even her father's beating was as painful as his words.
Kyle rushed after her departing figure. "Please wait!. Renée I hope you can forgive me for what I said back then. I was really immature and foolish". He tried to hold her hand but she smoothly avoided him and faced him.
"I'm sorry. Do I know you? Have we met? As far as I can recall, we're just strangers".
"Please don't act this way Renée. I'm sincerely sorry. I really want to make it up to you. Why don't I take you out for dinner then we can catch up". He smiled sweetly at her, thinking that she was still that naive little girl that was hopelessly in love with him.
Man. He was so wrong.
"I'm sorry. I have far more important things to do than have dinner with you". She replied coldly.
"Renée, I really care about you and I'm hoping you can reciprocate my feelings".
"Listen Kyle. I don't know why you are here or what you want from me. I blame my luck for bumping into you". She glared at him. Now her phone has been ringing multiple times but she was to angry to answer it. "I was naive back then but let me make this clear, I am not interested in you. Just so you know, i have a boyfriend and we're happy together. So get lost from my sight".
He laughed and threatened. "You really don't know where you are now. I don't care about your puny little boyfriend, this is my turf and as long as I'm around, I'll get whatever I want including you. Got it!".
She replied with a laugh of hers that was scornful. "Wow, having an off day. Let's not say things you don't mean. You can never be compared to my boyfriend. You're just a toad trying to eat swan meat. Now move away"
"You!". He was so infuriated that he didn't know what else to say, his height of 6'1 was inching above her 5'7, he was trying to be domineering. "You won't have the last laugh. By the time I'm done with you, you will be begging me to kil-".
"Say one more word and the next thing that's gonna come out from your mouth is going to be your teeths". A girl with a cute but feisty appearance interrupted. "Now step back before I make you". She growled with a bit of magic in her tone.
Kyle found himself stepping away from Renée. He couldn't control his body, he tried to reject the order with his alpha bloodline but to no avail. No one can go against a werewolf witch princess in her turf. He looked at the intruder with a different light.... because not everyone is powerful enough to suppress an alpha bloodline.
He mouthed before leaving. 'This isn't over'.
Luciana immediately hugged Renée. "I'm so sorry I left you. You have already become a magnet for trouble".
"It's not your fault. It's his. Let's not worry about it. But how did you do that?".
"Hmm. I'm part witch so I infused a little magic to my order. After your coronation, you'll be able to do what I did to anyone with a lower rank". She reassured gently.
Renée was glad that Luciana had come to her rescue but was also worried about what else Kyle has planned since he already knew about her existence and is determined to keep her. A stubborn part of her was furious that someone else apart from her mate had staked claims on her, it felt degrading and disgusting at the same time. Luciana was still hugging her, encouraging her with a sooting voice and did not notice as a dangerous glint flashed across Renée's eyes and how her lips curled up into a smile, it was also similar to how Lucian behaved when he wants blood to spill.
