Chapter Eight: Sleeping With Sharks

Karin POV-

I hurriedly grabbed the keys from my key holders and bolted out of the door with a bagel in my mouth. I rushed out of my apartment and to my car and started it up and drove off to school. I was running ten minutes late already, and I could NOT miss another day of school, especially not with finals coming up.

I got out of my car once I got to school and hurried into the building and to my class room. I tried to open the door but it was locked. "Shit." I cursed angrily. I checked my phone and saw it was 9:43 AM and sighed, sliding down against the door.

"Wanna ditch?" Someone asked. I looked up and saw no one else but Suigetsu with his backpack hanging from his fingers. "Might as well. We can't get in until the second lecture."

"Why are you asking me?" I asked raising an eyebrow.

"I'd rather ditch with someone else so I won't be bored." he answered with a shrug. "You coming or what?" He questioned.

I stood up and followed him out the door of the building and to his car, "Where are we going?"

"Just cruising." He answered unlocking the doors to his dark blue 2006 Acura. "Hop in."

I opened the door and got into the passenger seat of his car and put my seatbelt on. He started the car up and drive out of the parking lot. I took my phone out of my pocket and started to play Robot Unicorn Attack silently as he drove.

"Where are we going?" I asked not looking up from my phone.

"I told you just cruising. Is that a problem?" He looked over at me from the corner of his eye and smirked, "Thought we could talk a little bit."

"Talk? You broke up with me over bullshit and you want to talk?" I asked being a little angry at his choice of words.

"We'll talk about all that okay?" He pulled in through a McDonald's drive through and ordered some food. "Want anything?"

"No, thank you." I put my phone away and crossed my arms across my chest.

"You sure? I'll get you a Cinnamon Melt or something?" He offered again.

"No, thank you."

"Yeah and I'd like to add a medium caramel frappe and a cinnamon melt."

I rolled my eyes and she paid for the food and parked the car in the parking lot and opened the bag and handed me the things he ordered for me.

"Suigetsu what-"

I was cut off by the sensation of Suigetsu's course, rough lips against my own. I tried pushing him away but he wrapped an arm around my waist and put his other hand against my cheek to bring me in closer.

'This would happen to me, of all times and places.'

I started to spit like little kids do and turned my head away, causing him to pull away, "What the fuck Karin!?" He asked wiping his mouth.

"Me?! I should be asking YOU that! YOU kissed ME!" I shouted at him. "You should have thought how this would play out before you did it fish brains!" I unbuckled my seatbelt and looked out the window, by this time it was raining again and I groaned opening the door.

"So what? Are you gonna walk back in the rain then?" He shouted after me.

"I'm not sitting here to get sexually assaulted!" I hopped out of the car and slammed the door. I found myself hugging my arms together as I walked back to school, which was more than two miles away.

"Karin get in the car," Suigetsu said as he slowly drive by me. "You'll be sick as hell if you don't."

"I'll call Rei to come get me then." I said pulling my phone out of my jean pockets.

"Class won't be out for another ten minutes. Just get in and-"

"I'd rather wait in the rain!" I shouted dialing Rei's phone number.

"Karin, just get in!"

"No!" I turned around and walked back into the Mcdonalds and called Rei again.

"Hello?" He asked.

"Hey, Rei? Listen, can you do me a favor and come pick me up?"

"Sure, but where are you? Did something happen?"

"The McDonalds on 109th and Main St." I answered.

"That's two miles away from the school, what are ya doing there?!"

"I'll explain later. Can you come get me or not?"

"On my way Strawberry."

I hung up the phone and sneezed loudly, causing a couple of people to say 'bless you'. I sniffled and pulled my hair up into a messy bun and sat down at a table and waited. I hugged my bare arms and shivered a little.

Someone wrapped something around my shoulders and I looked to see Rei above me, "You okay?"

I sniffled, "Yeah, just a little wet..." I put my arms through the sleeves of his blazer and felt a lot warmer, "Thank you."

He nodded and handed me the pink helmet and I followed him outside into the light drizzle. "I took some notes for you." he commented getting on his bike.

"Thank you." I said putting the helmet on and getting on behind him.

I wrapped my arms around him as he popped a wheelie and zoomed off.
