How fast would you drive if your life depended on it?
You're about to put the pedal to the metal. Hitting at 180 mph, it pushes to its top speed. May vary. Depends how you're willing to risk everything, including your very own life.
And at this state, Tokyo was ready to drop everything and races to 200. Hands were gripped very tightly at the steering wheel, eyes never blinked as it stays on the road. A foot stepping on the gas and never bothered to hit the brakes.
It doesn't matter how she managed to pass every encounter on the highway without crashing them all at one piece. What matters was she kept her head in the game.
Out from a distance, Claire was trembling on her knees. Barely hanging by the thread. She was in front of Somi's apartment. Standing outside the door with Somi by her side. Balling her fists, shaking from the fear creeping inside of her. See her pulling the hem of her clothes, nervously, just to try keeping her hands busy and not actually pull her hair to bald instead. She was restless.
Somi had the same status. Face dropped, sharp exhales and shaky breaths. Chest rises and falls at a top cost. Breathing anxiously. Barely keeping it steady. She fights to keep her feet on the ground, barely keeping it still.
Two blocks until Tokyo pulls over. Her head was clouded, too much to even notice that blood was running down from her nose. She dares not to give even the slightest attention towards it and casually wiped it with the back of her palm, like it was just a simple runny nose.
Fear sank in Claire. Deep into her veins, almost pulling her soul out from her body. She falls weak on her knees as Tokyo came running to her.
Tears were unstoppable. It blinded her to even see that Tokyo already caught her locked in her arms and shackled in her embrace before she completely falls.
Tears silenced the words she ought to speak. She was wailing to much extent that left no voice from her mouth as she cries her heart out.
Tokyo felt everything. In her arms, wrapped her ex-wife, weeping with the unbearable pain that she was also carrying. No words were to stop everything from coming all at once.
She squeezes her eyelids and her lips were shaking. She couldn't fight against the urge to stop her tears from falling. She tightens her embrace around Claire's shoulders, burying her face on her hair. I won't let go of you. Claire buries hers on Tokyo's neck, soaking her ex-wife's shirt with each shed of tear.
The dark was soon to devour the sky. The breeze was getting colder by the minute. Streetlights start to shone each corner of the block. It went less than an hour before they pulled back to their senses and brought back their strength. They march their way back, heading towards the front door.
Once everything was calm, the first thing that caught Tokyo's attention was-
"When was the last time you moved the couch?" She was like having her question to herself because of how her eyes got stuck staring at the furniture that seemed to be taken out of its place while her question was darted at Somi.
Her mind was in a mess, thoughts running around each corner as the question of curiosity sinks in the back of her head. The anxiety lingers and agitation starts to crawl into her skin.
"Why would I?" From her creasing eyebrows, it shot up so fast from Somi's question. Her eyes were twitching while staring into the sea of darkness covered by the furniture.
She drops her gaze down and immediately let her guard up when half a shoe was sticking out from behind the couch.
Not to blow her cover, she remains steady in command. At ease and she acts normal but never had her guard on the loose. Behind the couch was the window pane with a drape dangled in it next to the television.
