She had picked her side when she chose the color of her gown— but in truth, she could not stand the greens. Daenys had always thought herself the less of the Targaryen born children, despite her looks. Yet looking at the greens, she saw that they were the ones who were less Targaryen compared to herself or the blacks. Aegon did nought but drink himself to death, Helaena was not in exactly there in the head, but lonely. And Aemond, well. A man grown should learn not to pick fight with someone younger than him.
Daenys walked towards the king's chambers as the King had requested her presence. She did not mind. She found herself to like the sick king. He was kind and gentle towards her. She thought of how having him as a father would be like. Rhaenyra had been lucky at that.
"The lady Daenys, my king," the kingsguard announced and Daenys took her time to look around the chamber. The seven pointed star and symbols of the faith were seen instead of symbols of house Targaryen.
"Ah yes. Daenys," King Viserys managed to whisper. Daenys walked over and took a seat beside the bed. The king looked worse since the dinner feast.
"My King," she greeted with a nod. "What do I owe the pleasure?"
Before he could answer he went into a coughing pace. Her eyes widened. Gods, should she do something. Or call for the guards?
The king seemed to notice the frantic look in her eyes and smiled warmly. Well at least he tried to.
"No need my girl. This happens too often,"
Daenys smiled sadly. "I wish there was something that I could do to help."
The king stared at her. "There is something," he began. Daenys stared at him. "I understand that my brother has not been the greatest of fathers—"
"He abandoned me." she interrupted rather rudely. But she honestly did not care. No one was here to beat her for speaking to the king that way.
"Yes I know child. I find myself thinking that I never have been the best of fathers to the rest of my children. I love my children by Alicent, I do. But Rhaenyra is my only child by my first Queen. Rhaenyra is the child I should have cherished from the start. I know that now. Yet I cannot change the past,"
Daenys wondered where he would go with this. Everyone knew that Princess Rhaenyra was the king's favorite child. The daughter of the late Queen Aemma. The Queen was said to have been beautiful, and Daenys knew that to probably be true. Rhaenyra is be the living proof of her mothers beauty. There was a reason Rhaenyra was called the realm's delight.
"I fear I will perish soon. And I fear a war will rise after. I should have listened t-to...Daemon about giving the Hightowers too much power....I fear that they will defy my wishes and try to put Aegon on the throne. I ask of you Daenys, help my Rhaenyra...Aid her. You have not spoken to her much yet I know you have a certain fondness for her....She is your cousin after all. You hold grudges against your father but not with Rhaenyra. I beg of you to side with her if Otto and Alicent try to put my son on the throne. You must...try and keep the peace. This is all I ask,"
Daenys fisted her hand and closed her eyes. People were beginning to take sides. The king was dying. Everyone knew a war would break out after. There was no mistake. She liked Rhaenyra, her uncle spoke true. However she cannot be near her father.
"My father killed my mother," she finally said.
The King furred his brows weakly, confusion on his face.
