The clock turned 7:00 AM. Frown woke up. It was that time again. He immediately did his morning routine. He also woke up the others by the noise he was making. Winter was the first one up.
Winter was still a bit tired though.
"Morning Frown"
"Why are you up early?"
"I know when you're awake."
...
"Anyways, where are we going today?"
"We're going to Hailer today."
"Oh, okay"
Winter made herself some breakfast and sat directly near Frown. He didn't mind though.
"So, I guess we wait for the others?"
"That's what I'm doing."
The others walked in shortly after Frown's sentence.
Emily: "Good morning"
Frown: "There's no time for good morning! Our forces are probably dying right now!"
They could hear the sounds of gunshots coming from the protests. They got there at the right moment, as the tanks were starting to move Frown grabbed his trusty rifle and drove a truck into Hailer. The others were in other vehicles. We don't know what Winter is doing, as she was going her own route. They drove for a good fifteen minutes until they were met with a confrontation between protesters and soldiers.
The soldiers quickly noticed the rebels and started shooting. The protesters grabbed their own weapons and fought back. Frown was impressed, but focused on the fight. A soldier threw a grenade to kill the rebellious rebels but ended up missing and detonating in a building that soon collapsed on the soldiers due to how poorly the building was built. Now that the road was blocked they needed to find a way to move forward again.
Frown: "Oh, great we're stuck here now."
Emily: "Don't you have any explosives we can use?"
Frown: "Not at this time, no."
Emily: "Shoot, not even the tanks?"
Frown: "The ammo is not currently with us."
Emily: "Double shoot"
Winter was standing on the roof of some buildings. She was quietly watching from above, with a bolt-action rifle in her hand.
No grenade was going to clear the wreck.
Winter went down the stairs to help.
Winter: "Follow me!"
Frown quickly noticed Winter and followed her. The rest did too.
The building they were in was an apartment building that had those stair and ladder things. So, they went up the stairs and ladders. Knowing that everybody couldn't go all through the stairs, she used the stock of her rifle to break a window. The glass was sharp but the clothes they wore protected them. The next batch of soldiers was around half a mile away. The rebels knew that they needed to get out of Hailer quickly. Hailer was an important city for Frownesia, as it was the source of the many factories that were for the war effort. They swept through the city like a vacuum on a carpet. More soldiers came with two tanks. The amount of carbon dioxide in the air easily weakened the soldiers. The battle for Hailer was no different from any past battle. The rebels used more lethal rounds in their guns that severely injured the soldiers. Hailer was a big city so it would take at least more than a day. The rebels took a small portion of the city already. More and more protesters joined in with the rebels. It now seemed unfair to Doom. Now everyone was fighting. From cops to elite special units to regular senior citizens. What is this mix? Some threw molotov cocktails and shot with their own tasers. Others were armed with crossbows and chains. The soldiers' guns couldn't help them all the time. One protester climbed a tank and threw the driver out. It looked like Hailer was going to be an easy one for the rebels with the citizens' help. The rebels' size was around five thousand strong. Frown hopped on a truck and did a run and gun like tactic. He let the Falconshark drive and whenever they spotted a soldier they would stop and jump out the truck and shoot. Not a smart tactic, but fun. On the soldier's side, Pain with the help of Malice gathered some information about the rebels. They were caught most of the time though. Hitmans were useless since it looked like even if they took out the leader they would still be another guy. The rebels were mostly moving through Hailer shooting any soldiers they found. Frown was walking around and he heard footsteps behind him. He checked behind him and found nothing. It was probably some citizen. But this wasn't true. It was Malice snapping a quick photo of Frown. Malice quickly hid in an alley and the picture printed. Malice held the picture in his hand and Pain looked at it.
Pain: "So he wears a blue infantry from the previous monarchy and has yellow skin."
Malice: "That sounds like Frown."
Pain: "Nah...that dumb lord wouldn't do anything like this."
Malice: "True, but it's still a possibility."
Howl then scared them by accident.
Howl: "What'chu guys doing?"
Pain and Malice: "Aaah!"
Pain: "Don't scare us like that!"
Howl: "Sorry"
Howl then walked away to go assist some soldiers.
Pain and Malice did too.
Frown regrouped with the rest and went to the near center of Hailer.
They then found more protesters rioting. The protesters were standing in a street screaming, yelling, and throwing glass shards around. A molotov cocktail flew in the air and fire soon spread. The soldiers and police quickly ran away from the fire and shot rounds and tear gas around. The rebels responded with the rounds from them. Even a few explosives. Glass from the blast shattered and went all over the place. You now couldn't drive a tank over that glass. It was a narrow street so they needed to take another route. The protesters that hadn't died by the glass or bullets began to run to the nearest government building to destroy.
The next batch of soldiers moved through the city like it was their only reason for living. The rebels met up with them and mild gunfights broke out. There weren't any defenses built in Hailer so buildings and alleyways were the way. Moving and continuing through Hailer like this was too predictable. Frown tried to think of a plan to fix the problem. Something came up in his mind. The subway and sewer network. They could potentially use them to move through the Hailer easily.
However, moving all of the rebels there would be stupid since you still need some defense. So he decided to go with the offense. He told the plan to the rest of the rebels and he assigned them where they would be. The nearest subway network was six minutes away. They quickly rushed over there. A group of hundred soldiers was waiting near the subway station. The rebels rushed using their cars, guns, and bayonets, trying to dodge any shot. The soldiers also rushed too. It was a full on melee fight.
The soldiers gained the advantage when a tank joined them. The rebels tried to explode the tank but the armor was really tough. Frown went behind a dumpster and stayed there to reload. He couldn't use Dark Frown because he didn't want to bring more attention to himself. Especially when two dumblords are after him. That's when shots were heard from the roof of a nearby building. It was Winter. She was sniping as a suppressor to keep sound minimal. The soldiers couldn't tell where the shots were coming from. They soon realized where they came from but it was short lived as they died. Winter went downstairs and met up with the others.
Gwen: "How'd you get up there?"
Winter: "I have my ways."
Emily: "I'm too afraid to ask now."
Frown: "Let's get moving!"
Falconshark: "Loud and clear!"
They reached the subway station and went down to the station. Frown noticed it was getting late. He ordered the rebels to go sleep anywhere they found comfortable. Again it was unlikely that any soldiers would make a surprise attack. The subway had not been used since the revolution started. Frown slept on a comfy chair inside one of the trains. He quietly and peacefully went to sleep.
Meanwhile in a dark void somewhere...
"I knew he always had it in him."
"I should teach him how to transform soon."
