Maren had received a text from Fangs that himself and Toni were waiting for her down the block, so she threw the Serpent jacket into her bag and headed down stairs into her kitchen.
Nathan and Jessica sat at the island drinking tea and chatting.
"Where are you off to?" Nathan asked his daughter sipping some of his drink.
"I'm staying the night at Willows, is that okay?" Truth be told it would've been easier to say Betty's but knowing her mom she'd have Alice called to genuinely check.
"Oh your new friend?" Jess smiled watching her daughter.
"No" Nathan looked back down at the paper making Jess hit his arm, "What? We haven't met her nor her parents, plus a bit of warning would be great next time Maren"
Ren sighed thinking of a quick lie, "I know and I'm sorry it was really sudden, see her boyfriend just dumped her and she's really upset" She gave sad eyes to her mother who then gave her husband a pleading look.
"I- god fine!" He exasperated, "but i want to meet her soon, deal?"
"Deal, thank you both" She gave a quick kiss on the cheek to both of her parents before heading out the side door and taking off to the next block.
"Jeez could you have taken any longer?" Fangs jokes as Maren approached.
"God i'm sorry, daddy dearest almost didnt let me leave" She sighed as she caught the eyes of Sweet Pea.
"Uh why is he here?" Ren whispered to Toni.
"He wouldn't let us leave without him, seriously" Toni whispered back while the oblivious Pea looked around at all the houses in disgust and awe.
"You guys go ahead I need a second with Maren" He basically forced Toni and Fangs to speed off, leaving the two alone. "I was serious about that talk"
"Clearly Mr Stubborn" Ren mumbled out.
"Are you sure about this? You can always back out and no one would blame you Renny"
She rolled her eyes before walking up to him, "I get you're worried Sweets, but i'll be fine" Maren shrugged before pulled out the jacket and placing it on her. "I'm not backing out"
"Oh and Im the stubborn one?" He joked, a smile breaking through his worry. "Just- just stay near me okay? I need to make sure you'll be okay"
"Okay"
"No promise me, seriously promise me if things go wrong you leave, run if that's what's needed"
"I promise you Sweet Pea" She took his spare helmet, "now can we please leave or else we'll miss the whole show?"
