During the Easter holidays, we were supposed to choose what subjects we wanted to take in third year.  The Petrified second years don't get to choose until we're healed.  Draco is taking Care of Magical Creatures and Divination, Grier is taking Divination and Arithmancy.  Divination doesn't sound good to me, so I'm going to take Care of Magical Creatures and Choir.  I haven't formally submitted it, but I've had a lot of thinking time on my hands.  I would have taken Muggle Studies, but I already know everything, and I want to challenge myself.  I get to keep taking Wizard Studies, which I have been missing ever since I was attacked.  I hope I'm not missing anything important.

It's the day of the Quidditch cup final, Gryffindor vs Hufflepuff.  The sun is shining, and I know it's going to be beautiful.  Go Hufflepuff, Emma is on the team as Chaser!  There's a commotion in the hallway outside the hospital wing while the match is supposed to be beginning.  That's strange, I can't hear anything that suggests Quidditch.  Madam Pomfrey, Professor McGonagall, Professor Sprout, Professor Flitwick, and Professor Snape are all in the hospital wing, along with three other Petrified people.  Oh no.  Dumbledore strides in.

"Who this time?" he asks gravely.

"Hermione Granger of Gryffindor, Penelope Clearwater of Ravenclaw, and Emma Smith of Hufflepuff," McGonagall says.  "Miss Smith was bitten and poisoned by the monster before she was Petrified.  They were all three found around the corner of the library, with a mirror in Miss Clearwater's hand."  Oh no, not Emma too!  Oh well, come join the party guys!

"The poison is not taking action on Miss Smith yet, but she will need immediate treatment after she is cured," Madam Pomfrey said.  "I will have it ready at the same time as the Mandrake Draught."

"Thank you, Poppy," Sprout says.

"This makes it three Gryffindors, counting Sir Nicholas, one Slytherin, two Hufflepuffs, and one Ravenclaw," Flitwick says.  "No house is safe."

"All students will have to return to their House common room by six o'clock in the evening.  No student is to leave the dormitories after that time.  They will be escorted to each lesson by a teacher, and no student is to use the bathroom unaccompanied by a teacher.  All further Quidditch training and matches are to be postponed.  There will be no more evening activities." Dumbledore says.  "All heads of houses will report this to their students."  They all exit.  Snape puts his hand on my shoulder for a moment, then exits.

I lay in bed for the rest of the day, I'm obviously not getting any more visitors for a while.  Then again, I can't do much else.  When I get out of this, I'm going to eat a lot of food and run around.  I need food.  Whenever I hear one of my friends say they have to go eat, I die a little inside.  And I can still see outside.  I hate being inside for long periods of time, I have to get outside.

That night, McGonagall comes in again.  She's speaking with Madam Pomfrey.  The Mandrake Draught is almost ready, and Dumbledore's been suspended.  Apparently all 12 governors thought that he was unfit to oversee Hogwarts, what with all the attacks.  There'll be attacks every day now, maybe more.
