"Let's go Law." The man commanded, dragging the young boy through the snow. The past few weeks had been rough on the two, between the random 'cures' that never seemed to work and running away from people who wanted to kill them, a lot had been taken out of the man. He was tired, worried, and giving up.
The truth was, he needed help.
"Where are we going?" The young boy asked, sheilding his face from the sharp snow that danced around them. He was tired. Tired of traveling, tired of not eating, tired of being sick and just tired in general. "Corazon, answer me!" he yelled, annoyed at their current situation.
"In town. I'm finding a friend." The blonde man glanced back to the boy and frowned. "She's going to help us." Hopefully. The boy looked up with a glimmour of hope in his eyes. "We're almost there." He gave a weak smile.
"I hope it's warm." The boy mumbled pulling his hat down to over his cheeks, which were now bright red from the wind.
The man turned back to the town and scanned for a sign of his friend. His eyes landed on a small shack right outside the town with three black boards arranged in a star pattern on the door. "There." He smiled and grabbed the boys hand to hurry him up.
The shack was small, but still in good standing. The metal roof was covered in snow and the fresh fall had covered any sign that someone had came or went to the shack. He carefully pushed the door open and glanced around the dark shack, praying for a sign of life. A small fire was lit in the stove and random furnature was scattered about. "Someone lives here?" The boy ducked in under the mans arm into the shack.
It was silent in the building, minus the crackling fire, but the man knew better. He slowly closed the door and glanced around looking for his friend in the shadows. "Kitty!" He finally called looking around ignoring the boys question. She had to be around here. He knew her well enough. "Katerina-" His eyes caught a glimmour of something flying towards him. He quickly ducked as the small blade entered the wood above the door. "Shit-" He mumbled focusing back to where the object came from.
"You're not welcome here." A low female voice emerged in the darkness. A dull shadow appeared near the fireplace. "Get the fuck out." It commanded.
"Kitty, I need help." He begged. "Just listen-" She stepped from the shadows into the dim light.Kitty was slender with her hair pulled into a long, shaggy pony-tail. Law couldn't make out what color it was, but Corazon knew her smokey grey updo anywhere. As she stepped closer, her blue eyes connected with the boy behind the man. Her thin lips curled into a frown.
"I don't have time to listen to you, Rosinante." Her voice was as sour and stung the man. "Leave." She commanded once again, positioning her hands as if she was getting ready to throw another small blade at the duo.
"But it's cold." The boy protested catching the womans attention again. Her eyes flickered from the boy to the man before narrowing in hatred.
"Then freeze." Her voice was like venom. It sent chills down the duos spines. The fire behind her burned out sending the room into a flurry of pitch darkness. The boys heart fell, the hope for a night of rest was gone.
Rosinante took notice of the loss of hope in the boy. "Kitty, a word." The man stepped towards the woman, regaining some confidence. She stood her ground as he came closer. The room was silent for the boy, minus the howling wind outside. He really didn't want to go back to the cold.
"Do not step closer." He followed her command and just stared at her. "I want you to leave." Her voice shook. Her eyes couldn't look at the man, so she settled on staring at the floor.
"I need one night. Please." He begged. "I know you want my head, but for the boy, one night." Her eyes flickered from him to the child trying to warm his hands on the embers. Her heart pinged for a moment before the man spoke again "He's sick and I can't keep dragging him around outside like this." She crossed her arms over her chest. "I know you hate me-"
"I loathe you." She corrected. The man frowned at her as she danced over her choices. Her eyes flickered from the man to the boy. "One night." She sighed. "Then you're gone, forever." Again, venom.
He nodded. "Forever."
