Ghost and Ernaline had made it to the helicopter that was being piloted by Nikolai. Ghost had made it through the operation unscathed, Ernaline however? Not so much. Ghost had supported her weight while he gently lowered her into a seat in the helicopter.
"What the hell happened back there?" Price anxiously asked, rushing to Ermaline's side to examine the wound on her left arm.
"I was compromised in the hangar and had to rely on plan B to get out. In the escape, Rockes was shot while covering me." Ghost explained as his eyes gazed at the ground. Technically it was his fault the operation went to shit, and he hated admitting it.
Ernaline interrupted the two as she clutched her arm, "Just a thought, but you said the training course would simulate this mission, it's almost like you knew it would go to shit. But on the bright side we got the ACS" She panted as she pulled her backpack off her and slid it over to Price.
Sighing, Price grabbed the bag and secured it in a compartment below his seat. Next he grabbed the medical box that was hanging on the wall of the chopper. He opened it and grabbed gauze, medical wraps, ointment, and a small tourniquet for situations like these. He turned his attention back to Ernaline. She had grown accustomed to the pain, only slightly grimacing as she clutched her arm. She held her arm close to her chest making sure to keep pressure on the wound. Blood seeped through her white coat where her arm met her torso, right on her shoulder. Understanding she had to let Price see the injury, Ernaline quickly unzipped her thick coat and let it fall to the floor.
"Shit." Price cursed as he threw the tourniquet to the metal floor of the aircraft.
"The location makes it hard to strap a tourniquet so you'll just have to apply pressure after I temporarily bandage it."
Ernaline nodded and replied, "It doesn't hurt that bad anymore so I can wait it out until we get back to base. And my head is starting to clear, I must have hit it pretty hard on the ground after the jump on the snowmobile."
"That's good. And by the look of this the bullet seems to still be embedded in your shoulder. I don't see any exit wounds. When we get back to base I'll try to get it out and stitch you up." Price declared as he harshly began treating the wound. Rough hands quickly wiped at the bullet wound with an alcohol wipe. earning a wince from Ernaline.
"If this is how you treat a wound I think I want someone else to stitch it up." She teased through clenched teeth.
"Stop complaining. Do you want to bleed to death?" The older captain spat back.
"I mean if your offering..."Ernaline joked, trying to ease the mood despite bleeding all over the place.
He proceeded to shove gauze deep into the wound, quickly soaking up remaining blood and effectively stopping any more from pumping out.
"Fucking hell Price."Ghost gasped sympathetically as he watched the Captain appear to rip at the Sergeant's arm. "Could you be any rougher?" He chuckled, now finding it a little funny.
"Haha. Very funny Ghost. This must be so entertaining. Ouch!" She jumped as the Captain wrapped her now agitated wound.
"See! All better!" Price exclaimed as he stood up from his kneeling position, heading back to his seat on the other side of the helicopter. "I know it might feel like hell now, but this is just temporary. When we get back we'll treat it and make sure you are ready for operations shortly.
Ernaline grimaced at the thought of Price ripping through her arm trying to get the bullet out. There had to be someone else that could do it. She turned her head over to Ghost and wondered if he'd do a good job.
"Don't look at me, I do better at killing. Not healing." Ghost said, quickly shutting down Ernaline's plan. "Appears the same could be said about Price." She sighed as she rested her head on the wall of the helicopter.
