Ernaline was resting on the leather couch in the rec room. Her injured arm was propped on the arm rest as she held the T.V remote in her other hand. She halfheartedly flipped through the channels, desperately trying to find something that would end her boredom.
Ernaline was told to relax as her arm healed. Because of this, she had to stay behind on the mission that Gaz, Soap, Roach, and Price had been sent on. Ghost was also told to stay behind and replenish his energy after the mission had gone south.
Ernaline continued what seemed to be her endless search with the remote until a voice spoke out from behind her. The voice startled her and caused her to jump which slightly aggravated her healing wound.
"You won't find anything good on there." The masked soldier spoke as he made his way to the armchair right of Ernaline. He had removed his gear and was left wearing blue jeans, a slim black shirt, and his signature skull mask. Ernaline watched as he sat down on the black chair beside her, a bowl of grapes in his hand.
"Figured as much." Ernaline admitted as she set the remote down. Sensing her boredom, Ghost began suggesting other ideas of how to pass the time. He understood her pain. There had been many times he had searched for something to watch and ended up just falling asleep.
"While there may not be anything good on T.V, we do have a collection of CDs if you want to look." He offered as he slightly pulled up his mask to eat the fresh grapes.
"I mean I'd rather watch this face reveal over any movie." Ernaline replied, intrigued. She watched as Ghost popped a grape into his mouth, noticing he stopped pulling the mask right beneath his nose, keeping his identity a secret. She examined his chin, noticing the slight stubble and sharp jawline. His skin was pale, an indicator that he never removed the mask. His lips were a deep shade of pink. They were smooth and full, something that Ernaline had not expected.
"You must have really hit your head hard if you think I'm taking the mask off. And did anyone tell you it was rude to stare?" He chuckled as he continued to eat his grapes. The corners of his lips turned upward as a smile began to form.
"You're no fun." Ernaline teased as she began to stand up, ready to retrieve a disc to throw into the DVD player. She made an effort to keep her arm still as she didn't want to tear any of the stitches. Ghost noticed her movement and quickly scolded her.
"No, you rest there, I don't want to have to fix you up again. I'll grab the disc, what do you want to watch?" He insisted as he set his bowl aside.
"Thanks for the concern, but I can handle the treacherous walk to the CD cabinet. Besides, how am I supposed to know what movie I want if I can't see the options?" She replied as she continued to make her way towards the CD collection stored in a wooden cabinet with a glass front. Sighing in defeat, Ghost threw his hands in the air. "Fine. But if your wound reopens, I'm letting Price take care of it." He warned as he watched Ernaline head over to the movies.
Faking a grimace, Ernaline scoffed as she rolled her eyes, a small smile creeping to her lips. "You know Ghost, remember what you said about not being good at playing medic?" She asked, waiting for his reply.
"Yes?" He answered, puzzled.
"Then how come you just so happened to be the best at it?" She integrated. She waited for a reply as she began reading the cases of the CDs. After she realized she wasn't getting an answer she turned around, confused. She scanned his masked face, realizing it had been pulled down again. She searched his eyes and was met with a cold stare, his brown eyes meeting hers. Realizing she asked something she shouldn't have, she quickly began to apologize.
"I'm sorry if that question was a sensitive topic I didn't mean to- '' She began, but was soon interrupted by Ghost.
"My past wasn't a fun one." He quietly explained, turning his gaze away from her.
