Ghost POV:
The movie that Ernaline and I were watching had ended and we decided to call it a night. The Sergeant said her goodbyes as I nodded my acknowledgment. I remained on the leather couch as I watched her place the popcorn bowl in the sink then exit the rec room. I felt a small smile creep to my lips as I realized I had fun tonight. The movie was actually pretty good (which I would never admit to Ernaline), and kicking back and eating popcorn was relaxing compared to a normal day's work.
I leaned against the worn leather cushions and closed my eyes, thinking about everything Ernaline and I had talked about. I had shared embarrassing stories about members of the task force while she told me stories about her hometown. We mainly spent the night getting to know each other while the rest of the team was away on a mission.
Deciding that I should head back to my room before I fell asleep in the rec room, I pushed myself off the comfortable couch and made my way to the barracks. I walked across the room to the exit, pushing the door open as I felt a soft breeze hit my mask. I embraced the feeling of the cool air as I swiftly made my way to the brick barracks. Luckily, my room was on the first floor so I didn't have to travel very far.
I passed all the grey doors on the first story and continued down the hall. Once I made it to my room I paused and grabbed my keys from my pocket. Inserting the keys into the door, I unlocked it and pushed it open, entering my room at last. Once my door was closed and locked, I bent down and began taking off my boots, setting them by the door. Relieved, I made my way over to my bed and laid down.
I wasn't used to relaxing. I usually went on every mission with the team, regardless of what I had been through the few days before. Price must have wanted someone to stay around with Ernaline and keep an eye out on the new member. I laid on my bed and let thoughts circle my mind, many of them related to Rockes. Hating this, I shook my head and turned on my side. I slipped my skull mask off my face and let my brown eyes close. Slowly I felt myself drift off to sleep.
. . . .
I was quickly ripped from my sleep as I heard banging on my metal door. Gasping I jumped out of bed and threw on my mask that was sitting on my mahogany bedside table. I slowly took in my surroundings and realized that I was in my room and the knocking was probably someone on base that needed my attention. And sure enough I was proven right when I heard a scottish accent call from the outside.
"Ghost, are you up?" Soap yelled as he continued to bang on my door. Groaning, I dragged my feet across the cold floor, pausing when I reached the door.
"I am now." I answer as I pull open the door to reveal Captain Mactavish. He stood in front of me with a smirk on his face, obviously amused by my froggish state. "What are you guys doing back so early? Mission go okay? Was anyone hurt?" I asked as I did a quick scan of his body.
"Awe, look. You do love us." Soap teased placing a hand on his heart. "But to answer your question, it went flawlessly. A simple in and out and everyone came back without a scratch." He reported. I silently let out the breath I had been holding, however I turned away so Soap wouldn't see.
"Let me get dressed really quick then we can do some training together." I spoke as I made my way over to my closet. Grabbing a black T-Shirt and deciding I was fine with the grey sweatpants I had worn to bed.
"Could we do something else instead of training? I feel like yesterday's mission was enough for me. I should let my body rest." He answered, leaning against my door frame as I slipped my shirt over my head. Understanding, I nodded in agreement as I walked over to my boots. I quickly slipped them on and walked out my door, closing it behind me. Soap moved out of my way as I began walking down the hall.
