Marty started to regain consciousness, hearing muffled voices. He slowly began to remember what happened...
Olivia...
His face contorted with sadness and pain as he remembered the blast, the wound, and the look on her face...
I could've done something... But I wasn't fast enough...
Despairing, he began to silently cry, before pulling it together. He wasn't dead and he prayed neither was Mike or Nellie... If they were alive, the cultists must want something from them.
He tried moving his arms, but his hands were constricted by a rope. There was a bag over his head, he could tell because he could hardly breathe, and when he opened his eyes all he could see was darkness. A big bump told him they were in a car... Probably in the back of a truck by the way he heard the rushing of the wind. He used his feet to feel around, feeling two people at either side.
Thank God... They were okay, but for how long, he wasn't sure.
He began pulling on the rope. Whoever tied his hands did a horrible job because it only took him about five minutes using the top of his fingers to untie it. He had to play this smart, so he would pretend he was still tied up until they got wherever they were going.
After what felt like hours, the truck came to a stop.
"Take them out of the back and drop them at the front of the cave," one of them ordered.
Cave?
He felt someone pick him up, Marty holding onto either side of the broken rope really tight. They couldn't know he had freed himself or they were all screwed...
He slammed him on the ground, Marty trying his best to fight the instinct to catch himself. The wind was knocked out of him, but he tried to continue breathing normally. He was lying on sand... Where were they?
He heard two others placed next to him.
Nellie... Mike...
"Zero! We brought you three sacrifices!" one of them called out.
He heard the snap of a shotgun, which meant someone had just reloaded it... He listened closely for the footsteps coming from whoever had the shotgun.
"Zero! We call out to you!"
The one with the shotgun grabbed him by the back of the shirt and forced him up onto his knees. He remained limp, waiting for the perfect time...
He felt the shotgun press against his head.
"Zero!" he called out.
Marty sprung into action, releasing his hands and launching himself to the side, grabbing the barrel of the shotgun and throwing the man to the ground. Holding the shotgun, Marty pulled the bag off his head.
"Nobody move! Nobody!" he yelled, seeing the sun hadn't risen yet... They were at the end of the beach against a mountain, a cave right in front of him. He saw two of three men standing in front. The same men who attacked them...
He aimed the shotgun down at the man who had the shotgun. He recognized him as the man who had killed Olivia...
"Easy there, partner...," the man whispered, showing his hands.
Marty stared at him, breathing heavily. "You killed my friend..."
The man stared down the barrel of the shotgun. "Her sacrifice was for the good of-"
BAM!
He didn't finish his sentence before Marty fired a shell, blasting his head off, spraying him with blood. The two men rushed him with knives and put the second shell into one of them. He realized it was a two shot shotgun when he tried firing it again and nothing happened.
