Three days had passed in the Dreaming, after Luna dropped from the sky in the waking world into their lives, and the child still slept. Traveling back through time must have exhausted the young girl. Clearly it had.

In that time, Morpheus and Eternity waited as patiently as they could for the girl to awaken, to tell them what the were desperate to know — where Seth was.

After informing Lucienne and Eternity's two children of their new guest and all that entailed, Fenrir and Hel had chosen to leave the Dreaming and return to Kaname's shrine. There was a bit of a dark cloud that hung over the latter child upon hearing the news that her mother was to have a child with Morpheus one day.

Hel was not pleased, more so than when she had found out that Eternity had taken a new lover.

It, this hostility, wasn't quite understandable, since it was obviously misplaced. Her anger wasn't truly directed at either of them or anything related. It was all a result of past trauma that made her act out in such a way.

Upon seeing this in his sister, Fenrir had encouraged them to part before what he surely perceived as unnecessary drama was unleashed by Hel upon Morpheus and Eternity.

So, the two siblings took their leave of their mother and Morpheus and the Dreaming as a whole, quickly and with little farewell.

Lucienne, on the other hand, had been curious about this development, as one might be when faced with something extraordinary as a visitor from the future. She didn't seem all that surprised to discover that Morpheus and Eternity were to have a child together, only intrigued by the child and the future from which she came.

It seemed too good to be true that the conclusion to this adventure was happened to be so easy, to her, that it had literally fallen out of the sky.

Yet, that was how it seemed to be.

Although, how true Jenny's words had been remained to be seen, depending upon the wakefulness of the child.

In the meantime, while he waited for that to happen, Morpheus tried to concentrate upon his work. It was yet another attempt at distraction from the things that truly occupied his mind. And like before, it didn't work.

His mind whirled with thoughts about the future — his own future and that of the Dreaming. He could see the shadows of it, the ruin that Eternity had seen when she peered into Luna, as he looked around him at the lush beauty of his kingdom. He could feel the desolation as if the future had already come to pass.

It was haunting and dreadfully cold.

For the first time, Morpheus had pulled away from his beloved Eternity, choosing to deal with his devastated state on his own, separate from her.

In those first three days, he had scarcely seen his bright light, despite being able to feel her through the soulmate bond, no matter how far apart they might be. It seemed as if she were just as preoccupied with the dreadful future as he was and chose to have space alone instead of seeking him for comfort, just as he had.

And Morpheus was fine with it.

He wasn't sure what comfort he could bring her nor her to him, not this time, not with this.

There was a reason why one should never seek to know their future and this heavy blackness of hovering and all consuming knowledge was that reason.

Yet, they both knew what was to come and Morpheus was far less certain that the future which lay ahead could, in fact, be changed. Often times, fates were set in stone, even future ones. There wasn't any guarantee that Luna's knowledge could change anything. Maybe she could prolong the inevitable, but changing it completely seemed a bit too optimistic.
