-----

nothing about the week so far had been anywhere near normal for stray kids. jisung's anxiety spiked up again, meaning he had to take time for himself rather than being with the group which meant they were left without jisung's stupid little jokes that they had all come to love but practise didn't seem as fun without their squirrel.

of course they still had to be careful of felix's back, it wasn't as bad as it had been, but he really didn't want to hurt it any more that it already was and risk not being able to perform with the group again, so he had to sit out of most practises, only getting up to do his parts before going back to sitting watching them

it was yet another day of practising, the week had dragged on and since jisung wasn't back yet everything still felt incomplete, felix was sitting watching the group just as he had done every other day since he had hurt his back in the first place, it was getting tiresome and boring for the young australian but he's rather be bored now then have to sit out from another promotion. about halfway through their practise their manager came in and asked to talk to felix, which he was somewhat glad for as he was getting fed up of just sitting and watching the other members having fun without him, a break was very welcome

"coming hyung" he called, standing up and leaving with the manager as the others continued dancing, probably not even noticing felix leaving as they were all immersed in perfecting the choreo

once they were out of the practise room and the door was shut, the manager's kind smile suddenly completely changed, his eyes darkened and he glared at felix

"look felix, you're just being an inconvenience to the rest of the group, i mean you're literally just sitting there. you could at least help with the choreography or do SOMETHING worth our time" he said harshly

felix was shocked, as anyone would be at their usually so caring manager's sudden change of tone

"what do you mean hyung?" felix asked, struggling to actually comprehend what his manager was saying

"all you're doing is sitting watching the members dancing, you aren't contributing to anything!"

"manager-nim, with respect, i can't dance because of my-" felix started to say, but was cut off

"felix! i do not care about your stupid back! it's been over two months, so if you aren't going to be useful why are you even here? if your back is that bad why don't you go home or take time off? you are no use to us here if all you're going to do it watch the others aimlessly!"

the manager's harsh words dug deep into felix. his state of mind had been fragile enough because of his inability to join in and constant feeling of being left out, and now his manager saying this was confirming what his mind was already telling him..it was all to much, the young boy started to tear up

"don't fucking cry, this is your own fault! it's bad enough that jisung is being useless, and now you!!"

that was the final straw for felix, he could deal with his manager saying things about him, but his best friend who was struggling with his mental health and always did his best to keep up a brave facade? no way was he going to let that slide

"how dare you! jisung has always worked hard for everyone, for you, so he can keep up with the group, he's always brave and tries his best not to show how badly his mental health is affecting him how can you be so fucking heartless?" felix whisper-yelled, he knew he was being rude to his manager and was risking his career but he didn't care. the only thing going through his mind was the urge to protect and defend jisung

"do not use that tone with me lee felix, i could end your career right now if i wanted to so do not test me!" his manager threatened him

"i will do whatever i want when you talk about my best friend like that, how fucking dare you!" felix angrily said back, he started to cry again because of how angry he was but he was not going to back down even though he was secretly terrified of what could happen to him after this

before his manager could respond felix stormed back into the practise room to find his members sat down having a water break. when they saw their usual sunshine crying and angrily slamming the practise room door behind him they instantly scurried to stand up and find out what was wrong

"nothing i'm fucking fine"

everyone was taken aback by felix's tone of voice and they backed away, except for chan who was determined to figure out what had made felix so angry.

"chan just fuck off okay? i'm going home" he said, turning to leave.

before he could reach the door chan grabbed his arm and pulled him into a warm bearhug. 'how come he always knows what i need' felix thought before properly breaking down into sobs and falling onto the floor, chan still hugging him

"shh lixie it's okay" chan comforted, one by one the other members joined the hug "wanna tell us what happened?" minho asked after felix's sobs had quietened

after slight hesitation felix eventually told them everything, how their manager had called him useless and then also called jisung useless, and then had threatened to have him kicked out.

the members listened in horror, getting gradually angrier with every word. when felix had finished explaining he dozed off, tired from crying. "someone take lixie, i have something to do...changbin come with me" chan said, passing a sleeping felix to minho's lap before he and changbin left the room. noone needed to ask where they were going, everyone knew some shit was about to happen and wanted to stay as far away from it as they possibly could.

"how could someone be so mean?" jeongin asked quietly, it was a question that didn't need an answer but it brought everyone out of their thoughts

"especially to lixie hyung" jeongin added, everyone looked down sadly at the peaceful boy sleeping in minho's lap

"i don't know innie, but he's okay now. everyone's going to be okay..."
