After Lara's death, she was used as a test for the dead-flesh bodies. But what makes her different is that, they put her own soul back into the body.
Basically reincarnating her into a demon body, which means she still has characteristics of a 5 year old child. Though Alliestar can order her around when ever she wants since the body is made with like 0.7% of Alliestar's power, considering too much of her power would rip the body to shreds. But moving on into the future, when Lara met Chris, he reminded her of Elliot . . . .
the literal reason why Chris was created was to imitate Elliot at the ice cream store.
She thought of him as a friend.
Chris was unaware that Lara wasn't exactly human, and thought of her as a friend as well.
Lara/Loretta did listen to Alliestar when she had to (she tries to lure Dexter and Logan away from a crowd for a demon to kill them, but they were smart enough to not listen to a random little girl) but when it came to Chris she would refuse to harm him because she saw him as a person that she could not lose again. She is still searching for her father to ask him why he never picked her up the day she died.
