『••••』

ISABELLE WINCHESTER'S FATHER ALWAYS TOLD HER TO NEVER SPEAK TO STRANGERS, but what could she do if she found a girl alone in the woods, literally drenched in water? She knew she couldn't leave her there. But part of her also felt something about this was wrong.

"Is there a, uh, a number we can call? You know, for your parents?" Bella asked, smiling at the girl. She stood above both the girl next to her four friends who had insisted on asking her questions.

"Where's your hair? Do you have cancer?" Dustin asked.

"Dustin, shut up." Nathaniel intervened.

Bella glanced back at the girl, who now looked confused and scared. The one thing that caught her attention, though, was that she had a buzzcut. She tried not to judge, turning her attention away from her.

"Did you run away?"

"Are you in some kind of trouble?"

"Is that blood?" Lucas leaned in to touch the girl's oversized shirt, but before he could, Bella swatted his hand away, causing him to hiss in pain. "Lucas! Stop it."

"Yeah, you're freaking her out!" Mike agreed.

"She's freaking me out!"

Bella scoffed, rolling her eyes. Nathaniel was never one to trust people easily, and everyone knew this. So there was no surprise he was standoffish with the strange girl sitting in Mike's basement. He continuously eyed here, cautiously stepping away.

"I bet she's deaf." Dustin presumed. He turned to the girl and clapped in her face, causing her to jerk back with wide eyes.

"Not deaf." He shrugged.

"Oh, well, thank you for that observation, Dustin. Really, we appreciate it."

"Alright, that's enough, alright? She's just scared and cold. Come on, Bella." Mike grabbed Bella by her wrist pulling her along with him to his laundry basket.

She pushed through most of the clothes until she found a pair of sweatpants and a long sleeve shirt. She could hear the loud rumbling of thunder through the droplets of heavy rain, distracting her from her thoughts. She shivered, the loud noise obviously scaring her. The room lightly shook, but neither of them thought anything of it.
