In a dark corridor, the clashing of metal echoed as sparks illuminated the darkness for only seconds before disappearing. With each flash of light two figures emerged. One with dark blue hair and the other pale like snow.

"AHAHAHA!!" the white haired girl laughed, "CAN YOU BEAT ME?!"

"Shut up," the dark haired girl replied, focused on the slashes of the blades.

"Doesn't this remind you of the old days, Texas?" Lappland said, smiling a jackal grin, "When we fought and fought the tides of war?"

"Shut up," Texas said, fed up with Lappland's words.

"You're no fun!" Lappland pouted, slashing her blades more quickly.

Texas blocked each blow, surprised by the change of speed but a look of disappointment flashed on her face.

"Hey, you're open," Texas said, looking back up at Lappland's face.

Lappland wore a face of anger, "You always say shut up when I speak. Don't you think it's time you tell me why you left?"

Texas ceased fighting, and so did Lappland. Gritting her teeth, Lappland continued, "It's 'cause of my oripathy, huh?"

Texas didn't respond, but clenched her blades in her hand.

"Ha! I knew it. You're a COWARD, Texas," Lappland said, hate seething, "You left me, because you're a COWARD."

Texas shook her head, "I couldn't stand it anymore, Lappland. All you did was kill and kill. Everyday. I couldn't stand the bloodshed."

Lappland glared at Texas, losing her grin, "We were supposed to take revenge on THEM. Did you just give up halfway?"

Lappland was now stepping closer to Texas, "Hah, I'm starting to think that you feared me, Texas."

Texas swallowed some air, "I wanted you to stop. But you didn't. You wanted more. We had already tortured them enough, but you wanted more."

"So you just left me? Left me to starve. Left me to suffer through my ILLNESS...ALONE?!" Lappland said, punching the wall. Cracks emerged on the hard layer of rock.

A silver gleam sparked in the darkness, and Texas moved quickly dodging what was coming.

Lappland's blade stabbed into the wall, right beside Texas' head. "Are you trying to kill me?" Texas said, gritting her teeth.

"Yea? And?" Lappland said, raising her other blade.

The blade came flying down, but was blocked by Texas' own burning blade. "Lappland. We can talk about this, WITHOUT the violence," Texas said, pushing Lappland's blade away.

"I thought we loved each other back then. I guess it was all futile," Lappland said, arms going limp. The clatter of her blade falling from her hand, causing Texas to flinch.

Texas looked up from the ground and saw Lappland's face. Tears appeared on her face, glistening in contrast with the sunset from the window.

"I still love you now," Lappland said, looking away not wanting to show Texas her weak side, "Everyday, I think about you. Meeting your friends, maybe even entering your life once again. Not as enemies but allies."

Texas didn't know how to respond. She was reminded by all her neglect towards Lappland. How many times she left her in the dark. And how Lappland was always there, a smile plastered on her face covering the obvious sadness beneath. "I'm sorry....Lappy."

Lappland cried, breaking down, letting all her raw emotions out that had been hidden away for years.

It was once in a blue moon to see Lappland like this. Texas felt pain in her heart seeing Lappland this...vulnerable.

"I should've known. Maybe I am a coward," Texas said, moving forward to pat Lappland on the head.

Lappland felt immediately soothed, feeling Texas rubbing her hand on her head. "Y-you won't leave me again, will you?"

"No. But one day, you will leave me," Texas said, smiling, "I'm willing to cope, when that comes around."

Lappland smiled, "Thank you."

Texas took Lappland's hand, as she pulled together the bundle of weapons, "Let's head back. Shall we?"

Lappland smiled, no longer holding the unstable jackal grin that had become a norm. It was now a genuine smile, more happiness than manic.

And they exited the building, walking down the path in the bright sunlight.
