The Derry festivals were always a fun sight

The Derry festivals were always a fun sight. There were rides, cotton-candy, popcorn, everything. The carnival wasn't going to be open until later on in the year, though.

At that moment, there was a parade going down the main streets of Derry, while Ben, Bill, Beverly, Mike, and Stanley were surrounding another missing poster that was plastered on the wall, over Betty's.

Eddie and Sydney were away from the group, standing in line to get ice cream from the van. Meanwhile, Richie was trying to steal a tuba from one of the parade band members.

The band member was trying desperately to pry it from Richies fingers, while he blew into the mouthpiece, doing a terrible attempt to play it.

Sydney and Eddie eyed the group from where they stood in line, but they couldn't hear whatever they were saying.

Everyone noticed she had been quite down since Corcoran went missing, everybody had basically forgotten about Betty and were more concerned about finding him.

"It's like she's been f-f-f-forgotten because Corcoran's missing." Bill said, lifting up the missing poster and revealing Betty's, which had been hidden underneath.

Beverly looked over to Sydney, who was still with Eddie waiting to get ice cream, though she had a small smile on her face.

"Is it ever gonna end?" Stanley asked, also glancing over at Sydney, though he looked away after a moment.

She looked happy, although he had noticed how she tried to concentrate on anyone but her missing sister, and whenever they did mention her, or pass a missing poster, her face fell, and she looked as if she may cry at any moment.

Although, he doubted Sydney Ripsom would allow herself to cry in front of them yet.

He didn't push it, instead, whenever he saw that face, he would distract her. He asked her questions about herself, made snarky comments at Richie, and tried his hardest to make her laugh, or at least smile.

"What are you guys talking about?" Eddie asked as he and Sydney walked over, the red-head handing an ice cream to Richie as he joined them.

"What they always talk about." Richie rolled his eyes.

"I actually think it will end." Ben carried on, "For a little while, at least."

"What do you mean?" Beverly asked.

"So I was going over all my Derry research and I charted out all the big events." He explained, "The Ironworks explosion in 1908, the Bradley Gang '35, and The Black Spot '62. And now kids being..." He trailed off for a moment, noticing Sydney look down at her shoes with an uncomfortable look. "I realised this stuff seems to happen..."

"Every twenty-seven years." Bill, Ben, and Sydney all finished at the same time, sharing a look after a moment.
