Abhimanyu's eyes automatically closed when her lips touched his forehead. The warmth spreading throughout his body. He opened his eyes when she leaned back. Surprise written all over his features.
He opened his mouth to say something but she didn't gave him a chance to.
“I'm not okay! Because you're being a stubborn 4 years old and refusing to take medicines!”
He blinked.
The sudden shift in her demeanor slowly registering to his mind.
“I'm telling you Mr. Abhimanyu Birla. You're going to take medicines right this instant. Either your way or my way. The choice is yours now.”
He sucked in a sharp breath.
Her tone was bossy. Holding a authority. Scolding him with full right. And it was hot.
He didn't know if it was the effect of his head injury or his mind itself, but he really wanted to do it ‘her way’. Whatever it was.
“What's your way ?” - it came out in a husky voice without him realizing.
Her fingers stilled their movement in his hair. She had not expected him to ask that. And now she realized just what she had said in the flow. Her cheeks turned crimson as they stared at each other. Her face hovering above his with mere inches between them.
With the realization that she was in love with him, everything was affecting her in double force now. His gaze, their closeness, his husky voice.
Trying to create some space between them for the good of her own heart, which was beating erratically, she started to pull back when his hand came up and held her wrist. Stopping her from taking her fingers off his hair.
Her breath hitched. His touch burned her skin and the look in his eyes was burning her insides.
“Answer me!”
She felt all the air in her lungs leaving in a swoosh. And she breathed in small, inaudible gasps. She gulped twice to convince her throat to say something but to no avail.
Was it just her or the distance between their faces was actually decreasing ? Was she leaning down or he was leaning up ? She didn't know. What she did know was, his face was just an inch away now and her gaze dropped to his lips. She felt a strong urge to test and see, did his lips felt as soft as they looked ?
Her eyes closed on their own accord, practically feeling his breath on her lips but before the little centimeters between them could get closed, the door knocked.
She pulled back with a jerk. Realizing, just what was she going to do. Blushing heavily, she stood up as he permitted the knocker to come in.
“Good Morning Sir. Morning Ma'am!” - a staff member greeted while entering the room with a food trolley. Her eyes spotted a note beside a bowl and she quietly picked it up to read.
Akshara,
Neil told me that you're a close friend of Abhi's. So do me a favour and please get him to eat something and have medicines. I know, he will listen to you.
Abhi's father,
Harshwardhan.p.s. I know you haven't eaten anything. The food on the second storey of the cart is for you.
Her heart instantly warmed at the gentle and fatherly tone in the note. She could feel that Abhi's father loved him with every fiber of his being. But the thing that disturbed her was, he was asking HER to make him eat and have medicines.
She frowned. Remembering Abhi's cold demeanor with his father from a while ago.
But why ?
“Ma'am if you need anything ?”
