It was becoming Akshara's favourite thing to do now. Roaming in the corridors in evening when nobody's around. The dim and golden lights along with cool breeze coming from the outside, providing her solace. But it wasn't like, she wandered off aimlessly. No. She just kept her to-do things in pending for the evening to enjoy this atmosphere.

Such was the case tonight, as she made her way towards the library, around 8 PM, her bag on shoulder. She was feeling like studying there. Alone. To have some time for herself.

She knew her behaviour was somewhat neglecting towards Riya and Neil. Specially Riya. But she couldn't help it. She herself didn't know what had happened to her but she was craving silence these days. Wanting to be alone.

She sighed.

Actually she knew what had happened to her.

No matter, how much she remained strong infront of everyone throughout the day, she crumbled-in on herself in the nights just as much.

It's been a week since... since Abhimanyu had broken her heart infront of everyone. But her heart was not coming out of it at any rate. And the worst thing ? She STILL loved him with every fiber of her being! Her traitor eyes would eventually land on him surreptitiously, no matter how hard she tried to resist. Her heart would keep a track of him and his well being.

Just yesterday...

It was lunch break and Akshara was sitting in the cafeteria. Riya and Neil were on another table, whom she had asked that she wanted some time alone and they had been understanding. Abhimanyu was sitting two tables away from her with his friends.

“Hey Akshara!”

She was fighting with herself to not look at HIM, when in the middle of recess, Sameer came and greeted her.

“Hey...”

“Can I sit here ?”

‘It'll keep me distracted.’ - she thought and nodded for him to sit.

Barely 5 minutes into talking, she heard a glass breaking and turned in the direction of the sound to see a broken glass in Abhimanyu's hand. It's shard embedded in his hand and blood rapidly oozing out of it.

“ABHI!” - Neil shouted, rushing towards him while his other friends took the broken glass out of his hand. “It's in deep. We need to go to infirmary. Abhi! Are you listening ?”

But he wasn't. His eyes were locked with hers from afar.

‘What did you do! You should've been careful!’ - her eyes complained, tears floating in them.

‘Why ? It's my hand. My choice.’ - his eyes replied back.

“Abhi! The blood is rapidly flowing. Let's go!”

But he paid no heed to Neil's frantic voice.

‘Go to infirmary.’ - her eyes said.

‘No.’

‘Please...’ - her eyes pleaded, shedding tears.

She saw his demeanor changing and he stopped using force against Neil's pull. Allowing himself to be dragged to the infirmary.

He kept his eyes locked with hers until he finally went out of sight.

Akshara wiped the tears from her cheeks that fell at the memory. She didn't know if they had actually communicated through eyes, or was it just her flimsy imagination. But she knew one thing for sure...
