I sat back in the carriage that was being pulled by the horses. Anthony in my arms his face a little hidden in my neck as he stared with his doe eyes at the built figure sitting in front of me.
My ex-husband on vice versa did the same there was a strong staring contest between the two men. I sighed as in a few hours we would reach Sapphire Kingdom. Yes, we have been traveling for the past 2 days and have admitted New Hampshire is a far way from our kingdom.
In these past two days, I may add. The king has been giving me a lot of glances. I would often find him staring at me and he wouldn't even bother looking away. He must be feeling a load of guilt and regretting his actions but there is no way I will let him back into my life. There was a sudden halt.
"Sir we have reached the edge of our kingdom."
"Alright." He replied and opened the carriage door before letting out a hand for me. I just looked away and got down without his help with Anthony in my arms.
He walked forward and I followed him finding every citizen in the kingdom on their knees bowing to us and he and I walked to the gates of the palace. As we entered all the servants of the palace showered us with tons and tons of flowers. Anthony felt scared of the sudden change in surrounding as he clutched my cloth and hugged me tighter.
We finally reached the doors of the palace, the royal family stood there. My mother-in-law Margret, my sister-in-law Kate. I stood a few feet away before I bowed to both of them.
"Jungkook," Margret said and he took Anthony from my arms and she came forward and hugged me tightly.
She and her daughter were the same women who threw snide remarks at me and took away all the gold ornaments and precious things I owned.
"Sister" Kate embraced me. I didn't hug back. We all heard a commotion behind our backs and saw the people of the kingdom chanting my name.
Just how in a minute people change after finding out their wrong. Forgetting their actions of the past and living as if nothing happened.
"Is it really my grandson ?" Margret asked and he nodded passing him on to her. Anthony kept quiet staring back and forth between me and his grandmother before she kissed his forehead and we all walked inside.
I got nostalgic feelings staring at the palace whom once I roamed around with him. All of our moments were hitting me like a brick but I kept a cold facade on.
"Are the queen's chambers ready like I said ?" He asked.
"Yes, your majesty-"
"I won't stay in the chambers," I interjected.
"I want a small compartment in the servant's quarters."
"But your majesty-"
"Call me Anne I'm not a royal family member but a commoner " The maiden stood looking down.
"Disperse." He ordered and we were left alone in a long corridor.
"Why do you want to stay a life-"
"Because that is my life."
"I lived a life of a commoner in Harsh conditions all on my own. I may be not of certain things but I'm sure of one thing."
"I will never go back to where I was or who I was. I will live my life only and not change even if someone orders me to do so." I walked away to Margret's chambers.
"Ah, dearest come here I was just about to call you." She said as I walked to her. She was having Anthony on her lap who was simply doing nothing.
"Bring the things I told you to." She ordered her maiden.
Several maids came with plates filled with royal, gold jewelry and clothes which were very expensive and precious.
"What are you trying to prove to me, Your majesty ?" I asked and she was a bit taken aback by my cold voice.
"The way you treated me and discarded me and now your trying to win me over with all the things you snatched away does not change the fact of how I was disrespected. I remember everything your majesty and now I will not live like a queen or your daughter-in-law for the kingdom. I will live like a mother I am and a servant as I was regarded so kindly giving me all of this is a mistake as I'm never accepting this ." I took Anthony from her arms before bowing my curtesy and exiting her chambers.
He softly sobbed.
"Milk ?" I asked and he nodded.
"Calm down let's get you milk," I said before walking to the Royal kitchen.
"Your majesty." The head chef, Jin bowed.
"Shall I bring food for you ?"
"No, I'm not hungry but my son needs some milk so can I have some in a bowl for him with a spoon "
"Of course please take a seat your-"
"Anne, please."
"Alright" All the servants of the kitchen stared at me and my son as they were in awe watching the crown prince.
"Here, Anne." I thanked him before testing if the milk was drinkable and feeding Anthony some with a spoon.
"Jin if you don't mind me asking how did everyone get to know the truth I mean-"
"That your step-sister Miss Lillian set you up ?" I nodded.
"Well its a long story ..."
"After you left for one year Miss Lillian tried to get close to the king. She would wear revealing clothes and try to stay in his chambers. The second year -One night she wanted to get him drunk so she could sleep with him but instead she got drunk and blabbered the truth herself. "
"And after that what did he do ?"
"He was furious, he threw her into prison and had set out to search for you and found you."
"Even the king had been heartbroken Anne once he found out that he made a mistake he was depressed and couldn't live without you."
"How has been your life if you don't mind me asking .."
"Well, I was banished from the continent I traveled and went as far as I could .. Then I found out I was pregnant, and then I made sure I was more away and away because if I would be found then he would have executed me. I struggled but then found an old house in New Hampshire and the lady let me stay in the cottage for the sake of my pregnancy and for my child and after she passed away last year asking me to stay there only."
"He is beautiful but he only looks like his majesty." He said staring at my son.
"Well yes, but his habits are like mine."
"I hope so." He said before we chuckled.
"Jin can I ask for a favor?"
"of course Anne ."
"Can I get a compartment in the servant's quarters ?"
