I feel cool air around me, rushing past me like a fan. I slowly open my eyes to see where it was coming from. I look down to see a bunch of green specks. I look to both my sides, clouds? Am I falling?
"Oh SHIT!" I'm falling! I start to wave my hands in a panic, I was getting close to the ground, and fast! "AAAHHHHHHHHHHHH" 'How is screaming gonna help?!' I thought to myself as I yelled at the top of my lungs. I closed my eyes and covered my face when I was close to impact. I felt leaves hit me, a few branches scratched at my arms. My stomach slammed into a huge branch, I moved my arms away from my face to grab onto the branch to try and hold on to it. But I felt my arms give up and I was falling again.
Thunk
I sat in darkness again, I couldn't move. I tried to open my eyes but I felt so weak.
"Kid. KID! Get up!" 'Someone's calling me?' I look up to see a man in a uniform, an army one from the looks of it.
"W-what?" I try to speak but it was hard, I was so thirsty.
"GET UP! We gotta move!" He picks me up by my arm and pulls me along. I try to see where we were heading but all I could see was greenery.
"Where are we going?!" I ask the man. I start to panic and pull on his arm.
"Just shut up and keep moving! You'll thank me later!" 'Thank me later? Who does this guy think he is?' I tried to look back, but I didn't see anything but the jungle disappearing behind me. He started to slow down, I looked forward again to see more people. There was a woman, much older than I was, she was probably in her 40s, holding some sort of pistol. The two men beside her were younger but older than me still, one was wearing a vest covered in knives and other gadgets, and the other wore a dirty white T-shirt and ripped jeans, he seemed oddly familiar to me.
"Another one?! How many did they t-t-t-t-take!?" The T-shirt guy said to the army man, 'now I know how he's familiar, he's the crazy guy from the news!' I thought to myself.
"More, much, much more." The vested man spoke, he had a low, grouchy voice. "We gotta move."
"Again!? We just ran like A MILE!-"
"SHUT YOUR TRAP! You're gonna lead them straight to us!" He grabbed the guy's T-shirt and instantly he shut up, he let go of him.
"Sorry to interrupt," I started to speak, and everyone turned instantly to listen." But what the fuck is going on? Who are you people? And whose they?"
Everyone stared at me blankly, it kind of pissed me off that no one was answering me. The army man sighs. "Let's start over, I'm Zach, I am a colonel in the United States Army, or was." He was saddened and looked away from me and towards the others. "And your names?" He changed the subject.
"The name's Gabby, I run a gun shop on Quarterhorse Lane in Maine." The older woman spoke up.
"I'm Logan, nice to meet ya, dear." He walks up to shake my hand, I put out my hand, and he shook it violently. He let go and my hand hurt from his grip.
"Nice to meet you all, I'm-" Before I finished speaking, I looked over at some glaring eyes that stared back at me. "Wait- what's your name?" Everyone looked over at the man in the vest. He stood there in silence as everyone stared at him. He rolls his eyes as he spoke.
"Cooper, Cooper Thompson." He grumbled. "Ain't telling you anything else."
"Ok. Well, I'm Ace, It's nice meeting you guys but I would like to know why I'm here." Everyone suddenly looked at Cooper, hoping he could answer me.
"We are in a game, a hunting game, we are the prey, they are the hunters, we run and try to survive on this stupid planet while they watch and plan on how and when to kill us. That's really it."
"Whose they? And what do you mean by 'this stupid planet'?" I was still confused.
"Theyyy are ALIENS! Big ones in black, shiny armor that kills anything that moves!" Logan spoke up, he sounded worried and scared. "They take people to this planet to kill them for sport! FOR FUN!"
"Calm yourself, unless you want them finding us, finding you." Zach glared at Logan and he piped down. I was in complete shock and disbelief.
"This is fucking insane-"
"Yeah- we know." The lady walked over to me. "But you better believe it and soon, or else you'll die out here." She stared down at me, she was really tall, or maybe I was really short.
"I-I- how do I get off this planet?" I looked to everyone for an answer.
"You either win the game or die trying" Cooper spoke causing everyone to become dead silent at the comment. "Now come on, we gotta keep moving." He started walking and soon everyone followed him, I guess he's the leader here. I still had many questions needing answers but they were going to have to wait, I followed the group, staying near. The thought of us being watched kept ringing in my mind. 'Whatever it takes.'
Thuah'Ka's View
I swayed my tail back and forth as Ma'stba and I watched the brave one join the other oomans. "It seems that they have already paired up, they're getting faster as time goes on."
"So it seems, they are already paired up in the east, our brothers are taking care of them as we speak." Ma'stba moves as the group of oomans move, I follow him through the trees.
"The brave one seems to be searching for us." Ma'stba chuckles.
"What?" I look back, the brave one was looking up in the trees and at the bushes, barely focusing on what was in front of her, she almost tripped on a branch while looking around. I chuckled softly, "Very aware, a good tool to have."
"She seems capable but I am not seeing this great warrior you and our brothers described."
"You will see, once they stop to rest, our brothers will find our location and we will plan our next move." I look over to Ma'stba, as we were slowly moving with the oomans, he was adjusting his arm. "Is it giving you trouble again brother?"
"No, just trying to make it more comfortable, I haven't been using it as much, I think it's getting rusted over." He turns it until it pops off, places it on the ground, and then opens the mainframe to check the wiring.
"Why haven't you? You said it yourself, it easier having two hands than one."
"I know, just it doesn't feel right."I can see through his mask that he was feeling discomfort, I place my hand on his shoulder.
"I understand, but even though you lost your arm, you certainly did not lose that battle." I use my other hand to pound on my breast proudly.
"Of course, the honor was worth the loss." He pounds a hand on his breast. He suddenly looks to the north, as do I, we have lost track of time. Ma'stba looks back at his arm to close it up. He slowly started to rise, and as he does, he started to reattach his arm. Once he has fully stood up and adjusted his arm, I was standing next to him, looking down at the oomans.
"It is getting dark, they will be stopping soon," Ma'stba states, he started to click frantically but stopped himself immediately so he wouldn't arouse the oomans.
"I will alert the others, tonight, we prepare to finish the rest of them off." I turn my head to Ma'stba. "And to see if the brave one is as brave as we thought."
