"What a nice name." Kateri smiles.
"Thanks, I like yours too." I smile back.
"Oh thank you, dear. Now-"
"Wait- sorry to interrupt but what did you mean by mates?"
"Well, mates are like husbands and wives for Yautja, except you can't go back on them and you can have more than one."
"Oh- Wait- YOUR MARRIED TO ALIENS?!" I tried not to yell but I was surprised.
"Well yes, when I was chosen to become a warrior by my clan, I was scared of these big oafs, but when I accepted the offer and started training with them I slowly fell in love with them." She looks at them. "With Yautja, you can mate with more than one male. It's kind of their thing."
"Oh- wow, thats- surprising." I started trying to imagine how their relationship would work.
"I understand why you are surprised, it is quite strange, but now a days it has become more common. Why my mates told Thuah'Ka and his clan about human relationships and got them into trying to find a warrior to train."
"Oh, so Thuah'Ka?" I look over at him. I tried to say his name the best I could.
"Yes?"
"You think I'm- worth it?"
"Yes, we all do." He looks to Ca'Ytou, Gu'Kath, and Ma'stba.
"Huh." I didn't really have a good response to that.
"So will you take our offer?"
"What?"
"Will you let us train you to become a human Yautja warrior?" The room goes silent, everyone's eyes were on me. "Just know that you can not go back on it but you can decline the offer and go home."
"Home?"
"Yes." He says I take a minute to think. Did I really want to leave my family behind? My home? Then again were they really my family? How will everyone react if I come back? Those boys must have told the whole town what I have done. So if I go back, I'll be put in jail. If I stay here, I'll be stuck with giant aliens for the rest of my life.
"Yes, I accept." Loud trills started coming from them all, including Ca'ytou who started slightly squeezing me, probably out of excitement.
"See guys? I told you y'all would get your chances at making a warrior." Kateri chuckles.
"Now remember not to go so hard on her right Thuah'Ka?" A'sa remarks, punching him in the shoulder. Everyone laughs, including Thuah'Ka. Even though I was surrounded by giant, terrifying aliens, I felt safe and part of something. I was happy, happier than I'd ever been before.
"Say, Ace," I look over to Da'jou. "What do you think of the Yautja so far?"
"Well it's definitely not like humans that's for sure." I snicker. A chuckle comes from him.
"They have been treating you well correct? I know that they might be a bit rushy when it comes to things but they are just excited."
"Hehe, yeah, I'm just pretty jumpy right now. This is all so sudden."
"You should have seen how jumpy Kateri was when we first brought her in." Gudih laughs, "She would scream every time we touched her." Snickers and laughs go around the table, Kateri was not upset, she just laughed with everyone.
"What did you expect? You had kidnapped me, locked me up, changed my clothes, and expected me to let you touch me?" She looked to Gudih.
"Fair," A'sa says grabbing some food. I look behind me to look up at Ca'Ytou, he sat in silence, just taking everything in.
"Ca'Ytou?" He looks down at me.
"Yes?" He sounded angry but didn't seem angry, his mood changes so fast.
"Not to be rude but why am I sitting in your lap?" Even though I was getting used to all of them, I still couldn't fully get over the fact that they are aliens who kill my species.
"So you can reach the table." He states, looking back forward.
"Yeah, I had to sit in their laps too, I'm only not now because I'm at someone's place and I want to look presentable. Really, it's much easier sitting in their laps, you don't have to almost stand on a chair to reach the table."
"I understand that just not a big fan of being- touched."
"Oh, I'm sorry Brave One if I am making you uncomfortable, I did not know-" he started moving his arm off me.
"No, it's ok, I'm fine." I placed my hand on his. "I'm fine." I feel a low purr only I could hear come from him. Then he placed his arm back over me.
"You should eat Brave One!" Gu'Kath interrupts, pointing to the food in front of me. It looked nothing like anything I'd ever seen. It looked like a weird-colored steak with fruit next to it.
"I'm not hungry," I say, I really didn't feel like eating.
"You haven't eaten for hours Ace, eat up." Ma'stba states pointing to my food.
"I'm really not that hungry," I say with a bit of a chuckle in my voice.
"I promise you, Ace, it ain't poison, I've eaten this stuff for years," Kateri says taking a bite of her steak. "Sides, your gonna need the fuel for training."
"Training? Already?"
"Yeah, right Thuah'Ka?" We all look to Thuah'Ka.
"Why not? the earlier the better." He answers. 'I can't believe I'm already gonna start training with them, they are freakishly huge and look like they can crush me in seconds, the only reason that they don't fully scare me is that Kateri seems to have them under control.' "We will train after we finish supper." I look back at my food, I didn't feel like eating but I knew I needed to eat something. I cut a piece of steak and took a bite, it didn't taste half bad. I took a bite of the fruit, it was really dry for a fruit which was really weird. As I eat I look back up at Ca'Ytou, he hadn't eaten anything.
"Aren't you gonna eat something Ca'Ytou?"
"No, I'm fine."
"You sure bro?"
"Bro?" Ca'Ytou asks, I hear a chuckle from Kateri.
"Ca'Ytou, bro means friend, buddy, you know something like that." She looks at me, "Some human things like bro and sarcasm are not known to Yautja, so be careful what you say."
"Oh, alright hehe." I chuckle nervously. I hear a whisper behind me from Ca'Ytou.
"Friend?"
"Uh, yeah, friend," I whisper back. 'Did I really call this giant my friend? I have really gone mad.'
"I can't wait for training, I want to see what Thuah'Ka has been telling us about you."
"Thuah'Ka has been saying things about me?"
"Yes, he's told us everything he knows about you. Your strength, skills, everything that he could figure out before we put the translator on you."
"Why didn't you guys put a translator on me earlier?" I asked.
"Well, we don't have translators on the ship so we had to wait until A'sa and Kateri could bring them," Ma'stba says. "We didn't think we would find a worthy warrior anytime soon so we didn't ask them to come until yesterday."
"Oh. How long have you been searching?"
"In human years? 20." 'Damn that long?' "I'm glad we found you, Ace." He gave me what I think was a Yautja smile.
"I-I'm glad to be here." I smile back. Thuah'Ka stands up and everyone looks at him.
"It seems that everyone has finished, once we have cleaned up the dishes we will head to the training room."
