I'm Awake

When I woke, my head was comfortably resting on the thigh of Katsuki. After blinking my eyes into focus, I saw that he was texting on his phone. But just the sight of Katsuki at peace made a warm feeling settle in my heart.

Groaning, I stretched and pushed my head into Katsuki's abdomen, rolling over to look straight up at him. His ruby eyes flitted to me momentarily before looking back to his phone. Then his warm hand fell to my exposed shoulder, thumb rubbing smoothing circles. I was wearing one of his shirts.

My eyes looked over Katsuki's profile, down his neck and over his broad chest and shoulders - he was shirtless, letting his glorious torso free to be ogled by me. Then my eyes settled on a sliver of silver skin, just a straight line, barely noticeable on the front of his shoulder.

A scar.

From where he was impaled trying to save me - he and Shoto.

I snapped to sitting, taking Katsuki by surprise as I pulled his arm to see the back of the same shoulder. There was another scar, more jagged from where the metal piece would have broken through. That warm feeling stopped, squeezing my heart in pain.

My fingers lightly drifted over the skin. It was my fault he was scarred. He - and probably Shoto. If I just didn't let my guard down, so much shit could have changed that night. Maybe I wouldn't have been controlled, wouldn't have ran into danger to where Katsuki and Shoto put their bodies, their lives, at risk for me.

If the metal spikes were an inch off, I could've lost-

"When I first visited you in the hospital, I said there wasn't even a fucking scratch," Katsuki said as he pushed past my grasp to lean against the headboard, giving me a smirk. Unknowingly drawing me out of thoughts that threatened to spiral darker. "Was kinda hoping your ass would wake up and call me on my bullshit."

I couldn't help the tiny smile that crossed my lips. Then I sighed and dropped my forehead to his shoulder, breathing in his scent deeply. It slowed my heart down, calmed me. "Who are you texting."

He frowned instantly. "The fucking condiments and sides." That was a nickname for Kirishima, Kaminari, Sero, Kyoka and Mina. "They're coming over right after class."

Another smile crossed my lips as I imagined the group chat. I missed it dearly. Even though Katsuki kept taking himself out of it for the first month or two, even he grew used to the constant stream of messages from our friends. They were hilarious.

But I missed the people more than the chat. Seeing Kirishima yesterday, the true warmth of friendship he held for me after waking up from a nightmare... I am luckier than I deserve to be, having them as my friends. True friends.

I nodded and rolled over, plopping onto my pillow right next to Katsuki. "Then I have time to take a nap."

Katsuki snorted at my comment. "I thought your ass wasn't tired?" He returned my words. I stretched my arms with a groan, sighing as I relaxed my arms before I wiggled closer to Katsuki, enjoying the heat of his body - even just his thigh.

He does have some nice-ass thighs though.

"I'm sore." My words clearly had a double meaning. Katsuki grunted as he caught onto it, rubbing my head with one of his large hands before starting to get out of bed.

"Breakfast," he grumbled. His way of saying 'I am making breakfast for us'. I shamelessly watched his body as he stood up, pants hanging low on his hips. I was hoping that he would stay in bed longer. Cuddling seemed like a priority for me right now.

"Make sure to get dressed, Vamp."

"Why?" I halfheartedly whined, too comfortable in Katsuki's clothes. They were big and comfy and smelled like him - it was perfection.
