Cafe a la Gun

The cafe was quaint and cute, not many people filling the spaces. Sun streamed through the window, warming my skin as I closed my eyes, leaning back in my chair, and struggled to stay awake.

It was nearly two hours since I woke up, curled in Katsuki's arms, Yuuko banging on the door to get us to go to a cafe with her. I've been here before, but it wasn't super popular, giving us some peace and quiet in a public setting. The food and coffee was great too.

Currently, Yuuko and I sat across from each other, at a table next to the glass window, while Kendo and Katsuki went to order for us. I was still emotionally wrecked from last night, barely responsive, too clingy to Katsuki. But the same could be said for him, as he could hardly be farther than three feet away from me since we woke.

"What are the red, puffy eyes and extra clinginess from?" Yuuko asked, chewing on a complementary chocolate. I cracked an eye, arms crossed, body clad in a black, turtleneck sweater and gray slacks. It was cold outside, and I don't do well with cold weather (considering I get cold fast enough from my Quirk), and Yuuko and I had a meeting today to assign me an area of control.

Yet, ignoring our daunting schedule, Yuuko sat happily across from me. She was also being clingy to me, making sure I sat next to her, taking care to do my hair and pick out my clothes just to find a reason to talk to me.

I shrugged. "I told him the truth last night. He accepted me," I told her bluntly. She knew the gist of what happened. Not everything, not as much as I told Katsuki, but enough to understand the gravity of what I said.

But all Yuuko did was nod happily. "Like I expected. He really cares for you." She pointed a polished nail at me. "Men like him are super fucking rare, especially in our line of business. And the Hero business. Don't lose him, okay?"

A small smile crossed my lips. I looked over, seeing Katsuki talking to Kendo with a light furrow to his brows, focused on what he was saying. My heart stirred, simply gazing at him. "I don't plan on it."

"Good." She relaxed in her chair. A beat of silence, and a new topic arrived. "Do you know what area you want to lead, or have a general idea?"

I nodded. I was thinking of this before the coma, and came to a decision pretty quick. There were not many options, seeing as I am freshly returning. Press management, HR management, becoming an assistant to Yuuko. Or the Support Division.

"Support Division."

"Thought so."

"That's my area of focus. It works best with doubling as a Hero-in-Training, and I can get better ideas from Heroes I might work with." The Support Division was in charge of making the Quirk support devices, to sell to the military, police, and hero agencies. Leading it would let me see what exactly is going on, as well as work one-on-one with the above mentioned forces, getting me a wider network.

Plus, I had my own ulterior motives.

Before Yuuko could respond, my phone started ringing. It was on its front, on the table. I sighed and lifted it lightly to check it, and my body went stiff at the name.

"I gotta take this," I mumble, not glancing at Yuuko as I quickly stood and walked over to a quiet corner of the cafe, no customers around me. With a deep breath, I answered the phone, placing it to my ear. "Yeah?"

"He doesn't want to strike a deal. Not with me, at least," she sighed over the phone, sounding tired. Exasperated.

"What do you mean, Lyria? Can't the bird do anything?" I ask, crossing my free arm over my abdomen, rocking on my heels. Itsuki not wanting to work with us could change a whole shit ton. I don't know if it's for better or worse.
