Chapter Ten

I woke up bright and early, feeling refreshed. I guess last night just put me in a really good mood, I mean Landon basically told me that he likes me! I knew I liked him too, there was no denying that, but somehow I just couldn't bring myself to forget 'Candace' the girl in the picture. But whatever, I couldn't let that drag down my happy mood today.

I put on my black skinny jeans and a red v-neck tee. I plugged my iPod into my dock and switched it to the playlist that Landon made for me and played Apology by Alesana. While singing along to it I straightened my long hair and put on my makeup. I put on a bit more make up then usual because I wanted to talk to Landon today.

My phone rang and I leapt to answer it hoping that it would be Landon, but it was just Mandy. "Hey," she said in a cheery voice, "are you taking the bus today?"

"Yeah, if you want we could sit together I'm sure Alicia could find someone else to sit with." I said.

"Umm, that is why I'm calling... would you mind if I sat with Adam?" she asked in a scared tone.

"Of course not, go ahead I think that Adam has a thing for you anyway." I said.

"You really think so!" she asked hopefully.

"Yupp, see you on the bus." I said and then hung up.

I went downstairs to get breakfast when I noticed that my mom wasn't there." Hey Cass, where did Mom and Dad go?" I asked, I was starting to get confused.

"Haven't you been listening for the past month? They left this morning for their trip to Mexico; they won't be back for a month." Said Cassandra. Oh crap right! I had said my good-byes last night.

"Oh and I'm having a party tonight." she said calmly.

"WHAT! Tonight! Thanks for the heads up." I said, I wasn't ready for a party! "Can I invite my friends?" I asked, it was only fair.

"Yeah whatever but they have to be in high school, I don't want any little grade 8's running around here." She said with a snort. Perfect! I will make sure to invite Mandy and Adam, they look so cute together.

Alicia and I met up at the bus station again and I invited her to Cass's party tonight. When we got on the bus we could see Adam and Mandy flirting like crazy! I got off the bus and waved goodbye to Alicia while making my way to my first class. I never really pay that much attention in Science but today the teacher said he was introducing a teacher's assistant and that got me wondering who it might be. To my surprise Ava Penn walked through the door. "Hello everyone." She said happily.

The rest of the class was spent with me daydreaming about Landon, sad I know but I just couldn't help myself. Ava caught me staring out the window

As I was exiting the English Classroom an arm grabbed me by the shoulder and jolted me backwards. "I am so excited for your sister's party tonight I will see you there tonight, right?" asked Ava.

"Yeah definitely, do you know if your brother is going?" I asked. I was really hoping he would show up and maybe I would get to dance with him.

"I think he is, but anyway how about me and you go shopping after school to get some killer clothes?" Ava asked with an expectant look on her face.

"Sure, I will meet you in the parking lot at the end of the day." I said happily. I can't wait, Ava seems like a really nice girl and fun to hangout with.

At lunch I scanned the cafeteria as usual and to my surprise i actually saw Landon sitting at one of the tables talking to his friends. Feeling confident I made my way over to his table to talk to him. I know it was probably a stupid move but I really wanted to talk to him. I couldn't keep a smile off my face. I began to wave at Landon as i continued to walk toward him.

As I approached Landon his pearl-white smile vanished from his face. he quickly looked away from me and acted like he didn't see me. I was only a few feet away when one of his friends turned to him and said, "Dude, why is some little grade nine girl smiling and waving at you?"

"I don't know man, she has some mad crush on me or something. It's kind of sad really." Landon said, trying to brush it off. What was he saying!

"More like creepy!" A new voice said, I looked over and recognized her face imediantly. It was Candace, the slut from Landon's phone. she was sitting right next to him and she was all over him! "I mean look at her staring at us... stalk much?" She said, sneering in my direction. 

I was waiting for Landon to say something, to defend me or come over to talk to me, Say something at all! I looked to Landon, pleading with my eyes for him to do something. He just shook his head and looked away. Just then Candace wrapped her arms around his neck and pulled his face to hers. 

That's when i finally turned my head away, i couldn't stand to that for any longer. It's amazing how you can feel incredibly happy one moment, and feel the exact opposite the next. I was broken. His words were like a thousand stabs to the heart. I had fallen for him and he ripped my heart to pieces. But honestly, what did I expect? Landon was a senior, popular and handsome and a player. I was just a lousy little grade 9, I wasn't pretty or special, and I was just another nobody to him. Obviously he had realized the mistake he had made and he ran away from it, from me...
