rosie lived a mostly normal life for a child of a single dad in dawn city. she attended high school, got decent grades, dated a few high-school losers and joined an girl-band. as a teenager her father injured himself at work, and as a result wasn't able to hold down work for long. so once she graduated rosie stayed living at home, working a few casual jobs and singing side gigs to make ends meet.
rosie used to stop and feed the stray cats living in an abandoned building on the way home from the bar she worked at. one night after a quiet gig, rosie saw a fire breaking out inside the building and went in to let the cats out. on her way back out, she was caught in an explosion.
as it turned out, the building was being used by some of the gangs in the city trying to build their own meta-humans. none of their experiments worked, and yet rosie survived the meltdown of it all. she woke up screaming in a hospital and nearly tore the building apart with the sound. police and government officials were called, but she escaped the hospital before they could reach her.
she fled home, lying to her dad as though nothing ever happened. but from that moment, she dyed her hair, changed work and began retraining her new powers. soon they were powerful enough to make a difference, and she has been 'amplifire' ever since.
