Red car? Perfect.

Amber blasted a hip hop music on her speakers as she got ready for the day.

"Vibe killer, bloody Samaritan.." she sang along as she packed her braids up. Her ringtone cut the music short and she saw the caller ID and rolled her eyes.

"Hey Dorothy.." she greeted softly. She heard a lot of noise in the background and sighed, typical Dorothy.

"Hey girl. I saw your text on WhatsApp." The other girl said.

"Yeah, I was wondering if you'd like to come over to my place and spend the night. Maybe do a couple of assignments and watch Netflix." Amber said applying her lip balm.

"I'm in! For the Netflix part only." Dorothy said excitedly. "I'll be at your place by five. How does that sound?"

"Perfect. See you later." Amber said before hanging up. Five was enough for her to plan herself. She took out her black backpack and packed what she'll need. She kept the bag back in her closet and headed downstairs.

"Mum." She called hugging her mother from behind. "I have a friend sleeping over tonight. Is that okay?" She asked although she knew the answer.

"Of course." Her mother agreed quickly. Ever since the death of Alisha, the woman has been trying to get her daughter open up to other people so the thought of a sleepover made her happy. "I'll prepare some snacks for you guys." She said heading to the kitchen.

Amber thanked her mother and went back upstairs. She quietly snuck into her parents room and searched the cabinets for a particular bottle. She saw the sleeping pills and poured some of them out on her hand.

She crept out of the room and back into hers. She locked the door and rushed to her bathroom. A sheet of toilet paper was already on the sink so she just poured out the pills.. After carefully covering the paper, she began to grind the covered pills with the back of her hairdryer.

"I look like a druggie." She laughed to herself as she saw her reflection on the bathroom mirror. When she was done, she poured out the powdered drug inside a small plastic sachet.

She cleared out the sink and returned to her room. She took a seat on her desk and played an already downloaded video.

"Welcome back guys. So in today's tutorial, I'll be showing you guys how to.."

Time flew by as Amber watched the video over and over again. The doorbell rang downstairs and a few seconds later, she heard Dorothy's loud voice discussing with her mother. She knew her mother would be very uncomfortable with the noise. Alisha had always been a quiet girl just like Amber and her parents were already used to her.

She sighed as she deleted the video from her laptop and practiced a smile on the mirror. The door to her room opened and Amber saw a brightly dressed Dorothy storm inside.

"Hey Dorothy." Amber smiled like it came from her heart. The only reason she called Dorothy was because she lived closer to her than anyone else.

"Amber! Your room looks so chic." She complimented as she made herself comfortable on the bed. Amber felt her energy draining by the second and it hadn't been five minutes yet. She knew it was going to be a long night.

A few hours later after the girls had dinner, Amber knew it was time. She looked at Dorothy who was engrossed in whatever romcom she was watching and sighed.

"I'm thirsty. Do you want some juice?" Amber asked and Dorothy nodded absentmindedly.

Amber rushed out of the room. Her mother had already retired for the night and her father had a night shift at the hospital. She poured the orange juice into a glass and took out the powdered sleeping pills from her pocket. She poured a small amount into the glass and the rest into the juice pack.

"Here you go." She said handing Dorothy the glass and keeping the pack on the bed stand. She crawled back into the bed and continued watching the movie. She noticed, from her peripheral vision, that Dorothy had emptied the glass and poured herself another one.

Amber began to stare at the clock on her wall instead. She watched as the second hand went round twice and smiled. Dorothy's head landed on her shoulder immediately. Amber quickly left the bed and took her bag from the closet and a bunch of knotted bedsheets. She saw Dorothy fast asleep and carried out the laptop. She set two pillows beside Dorothy and made it look like a human because her mum usually did a midnight check-up before turning off the light. All she needed to see was the figure of two sleeping humans.

She looked down from the window and threw her bag down. She tied the edge of the knotted bedsheets to her bed and threw the rest down. She skillfully climbed down from the window and landed on the ground with a soft thud. She quickly took her bag and ran out of the house.

On getting to Mr Nonso's house, she sighed in relief as the number of police officers had reduced. She walked to the gate and looked under through the space between the gate and the ground. She saw two officers asleep on the porch.

Amber opened the backpack and took out three glass bottles. She yelled loudly before throwing them down the street one after the other. She looked under the gate again and grinned when she saw the officers rushing towards the gate. She quickly hid behind the flowers cultivated together in front of the fence. The gate opened and the officers rushed out and ran down the street with their flashlight. Amber took the opportunity and ran inside the compound. She looked around and quickly found the red car that belonged to Mr Nonso.

Amber took a deep breath before rolling under the car. In a few minutes she was done with the brakes. She was about to roll out when she heard the officers return.

"What was that noise about?" One of the officers asked and the other one shrugged.

"Let's go inside and make sure Mr Nonso is alright." He said and Amber sighed in relief. As soon as the front door closed. She looked out first and when she didn't see anyone, she quickly rolled out from under the car. She ran towards the gate, unbolted it and she slowly closed it to avoid making a sound. When she was done, she made a run for it without looking backwards.

She felt the wind caress her face as she ran and smiled. The rest of the plan was going to be like a movie and she was the director.
