"Rima! Wake up, it's your turn to get makeup done."

"Going!"

Annie placed the jacket that was covering her to the side, walking towards the chair with half open eyes.

"Good morning, Annie."

The makeup artist teased.

"Morning…"

She answered embarrassed.

"You should've slept more yesterday, we're only leaving this place next year."

Annie laughed in disbelief.

"Very funny, Seri."

"Thank you, I was actually thinking about auditioning for a comedy program."

The idol rolled her eyes.

"Suits you well."

Knowing the woman needed a certain level of concentration to finish her makeup quickly and, therefore, rest for at least a few minutes, Annie decided to keep quiet.

She closed her eyes for a second, just to open them again upon hearing a notification. A very particular one at that, which made her lower the brightness of her phone to nearly zero.

"I heard my manager talking with the staff"

"He said skz and flashlight will stay beside  each other during the countdown"

"Try to be either first or last in line, I'll do the same"

"Are you crazy?"

"There's way too many people watching"

"Fans see everything, you exchange looks with someone for a millisecond and they'll keep the narrative that you're dating for years"

Annie replied, recalling a recent tiktok edit she had seen with two idols from big groups.

Was I too harsh?

It's not like I don't want to spend the New Year with him…

The girl re-read her texts over and over again, wondering why he was taking so long to answer.

She burst out laughing when he finally texted back.

"I was watching the ship videos"

"most people are talking about how unreasonable the rumours are"

"I think we'll be safe"

"It's been a while since I've seen you laugh so loud, you must be talking with a competitor of mine?"

Seri commented, holding a lip tint in front of Annie's face.

"Sorry, it's my little sister, she can be really funny sometimes."

She breathed in and out slowly to recover.

"True, some children are definitely funny."

"Yeah."

With a subtle smile on, Annie closed her eyes again.

This was going to be a good day.
