Chapter thirteen: The Pre-Game

"I have plans tonight. Why can't we just get together tomorrow night instead?" Bakugou asks as the two drink their coffee. Kaminari had asked him to go out for a coffee this morning and since he'd already been up and in town at the gym, Bakugou thought he might as well hang out.

"Are you kidding? Tonight is the only time that works for everyone else and you literally said you could come last week. Do you know how hard it was to find a day that worked for everyone's busy schedules? I'm not just gonna change the date because you can't make it. But just know, I really want you there." Kaminari frowns.

"Well, I forgot! I made plans the same day same time by mistake!"

"Wow, I'm glad I'm so important to you that you forgot about my party."

"Dunce! C'mon! Just change it to tomorrow night!"

"I can't! I already decorated and made the food! Plus I don't want to go through the trouble of telling everybody that the dates changed. I don't even think there's another day that works." He sighs. "Besides, what else could possibly be as important? Why can't you just cancel your other plans instead?"

"Because..." He mutters.

"Because why?"

"Because I'm going out on a date and don't want to seem lame by switching the day."

"Wait... You're going out on a date? Like, with another human being? With ears? Oh my god! Who are they?"

Something in Bakugou lightened when Kaminari said 'they' rather than assume it were a 'she'. He smiled, unable to ignore the warmth blossoming in his chest.

"It doesn't matter,"

"Um yes it does! If you're missing my party for this date it sure as hell matters!"

"Oh my god," He rolls his eyes, smiling. "I can't tell you! It's complicated!"

"What? Why is it complicated?"

"Because the person I'm going out with is a boy who doesn't want to come out yet!" He blurts.

Kaminari's mouth drops then curls up in a wide smile. "No freaking way! You're kidding! Bakugou I'm so happy for you! Thank you for telling me!"

"Yeah whatever," He grumbles, turning his head to the side to hide his happy face.

"So you lookin' forward to tonight?" Bakugou asks as he walks into the kitchen.

Todoroki looks up with a guilty expression. "I don't think I can come."

"Huh? Why not?"

"Well, I'm sure you know more than anyone that Kaminari is having a party tonight. Izuku asked me to come and I felt bad telling him no."

"Are you fucking kidding me?!" Bakugou yells.

"Language!" Mitsuki calls from another room.

"I literally just got back from telling Dunce I couldn't come 'cause I had other plans!"

"Okay well I'm sorry but I haven't seen Izuku in a while and you and I see each other every day!" Todoroki argues. "We can just hang out another night!"

Bakugou bites down on his lip and sighs. "Asshole,"

As the day carried on and the evening came, Todoroki found himself feeling extremely uncomfortable and confused. He wanted so badly to go out on that date with Bakugou. He was looking forward to it all day. But when Midoriya texted and asked him to hang out and go to Kaminari's party, he just couldn't say no. He felt bad. They were supposed to be best friends and yet, they haven't seen each other since the concussion accident. Some friend he was. And some boyfriend too. Canceling the day of? He felt horrible. But he had a point, didn't he? He gets to sees Bakugou every day now that he's staying with his family. But it was harder to find time to see Midoriya.
