you can remember the first time you had entered that greasy pit of a fast food restaurant. The sizzling smells of beef being flipped while the room had been crowded with conversations that meant nothing to no one, the air hung with the delight of mouth watering flavor which seemed to really tie the room together, and maybe you'll be smelling like a grease trap for a few days but it did not stop you from entering. Your head buzzed in discomfort trying to remember what was on the menu as the distributive shrieks of children's cries and drunk men laughing had took effect on your focus. The menu was limited to only a few sandwiches and sides, double cheese? No, way too much cheese. How about a regular hamburger? Ugh, too basic. Eyebrows furrowed in deep thought, you decided the best thing to do before hand was to get a seat. Drifting through the cramped spaces you found a nice cozy seat that was right by the counter; you hurried over as quickly as you could to get what you deemed was 'comfortable' - those plastic chairs looked pathetic compared to the padded seat, and even with no arm rests or back support you'd rather have your butt feel like it's in heaven then have your posture cripple. Sitting down you sighed; was restaurants really this stressful? Who knew ordering food could be this nerve racking."Hey! Welcome in" a deep voice loomed in your thought - you were shook from your thoughts as a man in the Boy's N' Grills uniform stood behind the counter. You took this time to get a good look of his appearance, his hair messily poked out from his hat, a big chunk of a body which to you seemed pretty cute, and a grin that seemed to stretch too far on his face. "You don't seem familiar, are you that new person who just moved in?" He tilted his head as he spoke. You WERE new - a few days ago you got settled in your new home, you wanted a new life away from your home town. You never felt like you belonged in your home town. You were the one left in the dark with no support from anyone, after your mother left the family picture your father treated you like you weren't alive. It felt good to be away from all that negativity. "Yeah, I am. I needed a fresh start - and plus the house rent is dirt cheap here. Gotta start somewhere!" You chuckled softly knowing full well it was funny only to you. His grin lifted more, "Well it's good to have you here. I'm Bob Velseb, but everyone just calls me Bob" he put his arm in front of you suggesting a hand shake. "My name is Y/N" you take his hand in yours and shake, his hands felt warm against your skin. Your face was sprinkled with blush after pulling your hand away, his hand was soft enough to make you want to melt in his arms- wait. Why are you thinking that? You cringe at your brain for thinking like that,, why were you thinking of that?

Your whole afternoon was spent at Boy's N' Grills but to you it felt like it was only a few minutes. Bob and you connected together while you ate your food; the both of you talked about your life, what your favorite hobbies were, and even joked about the place being a dump. But surely the food wasn't, that first bite had felt like the gates of heaven opened up for you to enter inside its land of sweet, juicy, flavors. You devoured it in under a few minutes while Bob just chuckled watching the sight of it happen. You couldn't believe how one man could make such beautifully crafted food! "Did you know? The largest organ is your skin?" Bobs words seem to ramble on about human anatomy, your hand placed on your cheek while leaning in to listen to him speak. You can still feel the tingle of his warmth on your palm. Your phone buzzing snapped you out of your trance; fumbling for your pocket you check your phone to see your alarm had went off - it was already 5 pm? You went in around 1! You looked up and locked eyes with Bob, his eyes seemed tired but contained a spark of emotion you couldn't decipher. "As much as I would love to talk with you more I best be heading home. Gotta still unpack some things!" You had a warm smile plastered as you got up from your seat. You can see Bobs grin lower knowing you were leaving; he quickly caught himself and smiled again. "I hope to see you around again, Darlin'" that nickname gave goosebumps and made you flustered. You waved and hurried off home before he can see the flustered emotions that lingered on you. You let go of the breath you didn't realize you were holding in. Your smile never left your face.
You knew this was going to be an amazing star-

Loud chirping from your phone buzzed you awake from your slumber. You groggily got up from your bed; you felt like your skin was glued to the bed. Turning off your alarm you stretched out of bed for the day. Putting on your Café work uniform you prepared yourself for todays work. While you did have some employees to help you around the shop you rewarded them a day off for all their hard work. Plus, you knew they wanted to celebrate Halloween as much as you wanted to. Grabbing your keys and a quick bite of toast you headed towards the café with no hesitation. It's been almost 3 years since the incident and you'd rather keep your mind at ease than have it spiral into those dark thoughts again. It made it worst knowing your shop was in the same path as Boy's N' Grills, a pained guilt and fear always reappeared every time you passed, a wound being opened again. Today was going to be a new day, a new fresh start.
The doors sweet jingle ringed through the empty room. You took a deep breath as you walked towards the back into the kitchen. You wanted to prepare as much cookies today as you could like it was a regular business day. You planned on closing the store around 2 so you could get ready for your plans for tonight, helping Streber with the haunted house, possibly having a horror movie night with Lila, the list of activities were filled with fun and excitement. You smiled to yourself thinking about what your night would be like, but first, your cookies! Your bakery was the talk of the town when you first got started on your business. Your Café was open for almost a year now and is everyone's go to spot for when they need a sweet bakery treat or a pick me up cup of coffee. It was a pleasure to see how booming your business became after you teamed up with Candy Club to start selling your sugar filled cookies that were topped with soft frosting. Just thinking about your bakery made your mouth water. You took one of the cookies left from over night and munched on it as you prepared a fresh batch. You wanted enough saved so you can pass them out to the guests at the haunted house- basically, trying to convince them to buy more from your shop. After you finished cleaning and setting up the shop you officially opened its doors. People started to walk in and filled the seats, the place was full with life. Taking peoples orders one by one you do your best to finish their orders - though something distracted you from your work. You look up to see at the window someone just staring at you, a tall man in a devils costume grinned with malicious intent as he seemed to be looking right at you. You froze in fear, maybe it's some weird guy getting people ready for the day with some creepy encounters? You had no idea. Your attention shifted from the window to the old man shuffling his way to the counter. He was a regular in your store and would always get a black coffee with four sugars on the side. You remember this specifically because one of your employees put his sugar inside and he got into a hissy fit afterwards, but besides that he was a sweet guy. Pouring a refill for him he walks back and your gaze moves back to the window. The figure was gone. You narrowed your eyes - were you seeing things? Your mind completely forgot about the strange incident due to the dragging of the work day. After your shift was done you closed the shop for the day and headed back home. You seemed to rush back home; it was weird, it almost felt like you were being watched.Words: 1515
