Raiden's hand landed on a vacant spot next to him when he turned over to avoid the now strategically-placed rays on sunlights that shone through the blinds. No use going back to bed now, judging from how intense the rays were - what time was it? Is today a working day?! Initial panic rose up in him as he sat up and reached over for his phone.
The display screen showed it was a Saturday. The time, 11.42 a.m. He reached over and found the spot next to him on the bed vacant - on it, sat a note.
"Hey darling, couldn't really sleep after last night, yes, it was that good. ;) gone for a walk and a flight to get some fresh air. i'll be back soon. love you. xoxo"
Raiden smiled to himself as he got up and headed for the shower, following which he threw on a simple pair of shorts and T-shirt before heading to the kitchen for a cup of coffee. Instead of staring out the window hoping for a bird to fly through and transform into Iona, he found her lounging in front of the TV, a cup of tea in her hands.
As he came into view, Iona jumped up to give him his morning kiss before strolling over to the kitchen counter to pour him a cup of coffee. "Made it about ten minutes ago when I heard the shower running," she said with a smile. "Thought you weren't in? I saw your note," Raiden said as they both planted themselves onto the couch.
"Yeah, I went out around eight this morning and came back just after eleven. Flew to the park before going for a stroll there," she said as flicked through the channels. "I assume you were strolling as a human?" he asked in a mock-serious tone, knowing full well she couldn't be walking around naked. Iona turned to him with a smirk that stirred his loins before letting out a cheap imitation of a dog's bark.
Raiden laughed along before sighing playfully. "What a shame, though. If I had caught you earlier, I could've seen what bird you turned into to fly back in." Iona caught the hint as she spun to face him. "Something tells me you're more interested in watching the transformation itself." Without sparing any more time, Iona placed the cup onto the table and removed her tank top and shorts. She wasn't wearing any underwear beneath it all.
Turning around to face him, Iona winked as her arms immediately shot forward and warped at the ends, fingers melting as grey feathers molted across her bare, pale skin. As expected, Raiden stared slack-jawed as Iona melted like warm wax before him. He heard her body dissolve as her frame shrunk.
His vision dropped to her shapely legs as they crunched onto themselves, her feet and toes extending and reshaping itself into talons with hints of yellow. Drawing his gaze back up, he saw her features extend and pull themselves forward. Her thin, delicate lips stretching out, pulling her nose forward as if someone was holding out a vacuum cleaner in front of her now-fluid face.
As her powerful beak hardened, Iona's womanly curves began to seep into her now mostly-avian frame, her head and neck continued changing shape, smoothly molding itself to sit atop her new grey hawk body. Over a minute was all it took to have the majestic bird replace Iona's position.
Before Raiden could utter a word of appreciation for her little surprise show, Iona's phone went off. Raiden jumped to reach it. "Uhm, honey, it's Maggie. You want me to take this for you?" he asked. Almost immediately (and further reminding him of how fast or slow she could actually shift), the grey hawk spun round and appeared to lunge for the phone.
