My hands wouldn't stop shaking. I was nervous. I was meeting my sister-one I never knew existed. I fixed my skirt. It was a creme colour and ruffled a little by the neckline.
"Everything will be alright," said Jev.
"That's what I figure. I'm just... I'm nervous, that's all."
I didn't even convince myself.

The carriage stopped in front of black, iron gates.
"We have arrived," Colin announced as he stepped out. I pulled my shawl tighter around my body. The afternoon air was freezing, and it send chills down my spine.
"A little chilly, eh?" The man that was directing the carriage said.
I nodded, and followed Jev and Colin to the gates. Jev opened it and I stepped inside.
It was a gorgeous, Victorian house. It had a huge lawn with neatly chipped grass. The house was a white colour. A man was trimming the flowerbeds.
A women came up to us. She had dark hair in a neat bun. She wore a dress similar to mine, but hers was more a peach colour.
"Welcome Colin, Jev," she greeted. Her gaze traveled to me.
"And who are you, may I ask?"
"Kealiygh Robinson," I replied.
"Well, Ms. Robinson. What brings you here with Mr. Fersworth and his son, Jev?"
I cleared my throat.
"I am here to see Meredith."

Colin, Jev, and I all sat in the what appeared to be the living room. I wasn't sure, since similar rooms were down the hall. An entire space of wall was occupied by books. I immediately found a personal favorite of mine.
A Tale of Two Cities.
My favorite character was Sydney Carton. I put that book down and picked up Great Expectations. This one was new, barley printed. My aunt caught me reading it, and nearly threw a fit. I loved it. I put that down and saw a copy of Wuthering Heights. Poor Emily Bronte. She died about a year after this novel was published. It was a good read, and her only novel.
I dropped the book when someone cleared their throat behind me. I turned around and saw a girl. She looked about my age. She had light brown hair with hazel eyes. She had the same milky skin tone I had. She was slim and a little shorter than I was. She wore a light yellow dress with white sleeves.
She smiled fondly at Jev. Hmm.
"Nice to see you again, Colin," she said sweetly.
He nodded. "As do I, Meredith."
"Hello Jev," she said slowly. She walked towards him, but stopped.
"Mer," he said softly.
"And you are?" She asked me.
"I am Kealiygh Robinson. I came here from Alabama. I believe... I believe that your my sister."
She stood there quietly, watching me.
"Is this a joke? Because if it is, it's not funny. Not one bit," she hissed.
"It's not a joke," I replied.
"It's a lie. My family is in the other room. I don't have a sister, but two brothers. So, I'll ask you again. And you tell me the truth. Who are you?"
"She is not lying, my dear," Colin said calmly.
"She's not," Jev said quietly. Meredith looked from Colin to Jev.
"You expect me to believe that some stranger is... Is my sister?" Meredith exclaimed.
"We don't expect you to. We are informing you," Colin said.
This was going absolutely nowhere.
"Colin, let's go. She's not gonna believe us and I'm wasting time. I need to figure out the answers to my fathers journal and the Mediocris. The glimpses. And how it all connects with one another." I picked up the hem of my skirt and walked past Meredith. My arm brushed against hers. I gasped and felt the same feeling overwhelm me.

I was sitting in a chair. It was wooden. I got up and realized my dress changed. It was now a very large, pink dress. I looked around and saw a group of men. I walked over to see what was happening.
I brushed past people to see what was happening. There was paper on a desk, which was made out of Brown Auburn. This wood was around a long time then.
I looked at the document to see a man signing it. He wrote:
John Hancock.
Now why did that name sound familiar? I looked past that and saw another familiar name. James Madison.
It took me a moment to see why they sounded familiar.
I was when they signed the Constitution of the United States. Oh my heavens. I was witnessing an important moment. I looked up at John Hancock. He had sparkly hair. His eyes, for a moment, was a deep shade of green. It took me a few seconds to connect the dots.
John Hancock was a Mediocris.

I was brought back to the present.
"What just happened?" Meredith asked.
Stole the words right out of my mouth. But what was left out was, how did it all relate?
**********
I put on a white silky nightgown that evening. I brushed my hair.
As I was getting into bed, I eyed the journal. I wanted to grab it and read it. But I had enough excitement for one day.
I turned off the light and dreamt about absolutely nothing.
