What is the best way to spend your evening? The answer is sleeping no doubt. Although the second best would be going to the theater. Being immersed in a story performed live as you laugh with others, is truly an experience. Depending on what type of story you're trying to convey and its execution. You can make the audience experience whatever emotions are being portrayed. Or so that's what Jo had told me, she's rather knowledgeable about the art of play writing. Laurie, being the charmer he was, had managed to get tickets to tonight's show. And although he didn't know it yet, this would be the night I'd be one step closer to winning our little bet. For you see, he fell right into my trap.
"Y/N! Have you seen my coat?" Laurie asked.
I ran past noticing said coat. "You're wearing it!" I laughed as he slapped his forehead. "Do you have the tickets?" I asked him, he sighed in frustration as patted down his coat.
"Y/N, Laurie, we have to go!" John called.
"Just a minute!" We both yelled to the tutor.
One thing you need to know about the residents of the Laurence household. Is that we always leave things to the very last minute. We all ran around the manor, collecting our things and attempting to leave the house on 'time'. Laurie, John and I nearly ran into each other multiple times. I started putting my earrings on, as Laurie ran down the hallway, whispering random gibberish and silently cursing himself. Something about losing the tickets?!. I quickly hung the locket he'd given me around my neck. Lastly I grabbed my coat and double checked, I had everything. As I made my way down the hall, I heard a loud "YES!" coming from Laurie who yelled in relief.
I picked up my maroon skirt as I ran down the stairs. We're already late to pick up the March's. If we leave a moment later we will miss the beginning of the play. I tripped over my own feet and nearly toppled over on the last few steps but luckily John grabbed my hand in time to steady me. I smiled, grateful I hadn't broken my ankles in these heels. I carefully finished descending the steps, John still holding onto my hand, leading me. Making sure I didn't almost trip again. "Y/N, you look lovely" John complimented.
"Oh! why, thank you John" I said, smiling at the man.
"You look lovely. Oh! why, thank you John" Laurie mimicked. I shoved him a playful smile on my lips.
"Laurie you know if you flattered me every once in a while, maybe you wouldn't have been so jealous Mr. Brooke beat you too it"
"I just wish to be complimented too" he smirked. Waiting for an acknowledgement from yours truly.
"You look... Beautiful? Laurie" John responded, unsure of the words that had just left his lips.
"..."

"Thank you..." Laurie said through his teeth. I snickered, laughing.
"So shall we go?" John asked flustered from embarrassment.
