I didn't go to school on Monday, I felt too sick. I spent most of my day in bed. At about 3:00 PM I finally got up. I went to the kitchen, and I found my mom sitting at the table, eating some pancakes that she had made.

"Good evening." She greeted me warmly. She seemed happier than usual.

"Good evening." I replied back.

"You're not at school?" She asked me.

"No, I wasn't feeling well." I told her.

"Oh okay. Anyways, I'm not going to be here tomorrow night, I'm going over to a friend's." She said.

"Okay." I said, smiling at her.

The next day at school, I was 'tickle attacked' by Josh, first thing in the morning.

"I thought you were dead!" He said over dramatically.

''Sorry.'' I mumbled.

He looked at me suspiciously.

''Sorry? That's all you've got to say?'' He said, a little mad.

''What do you expect me to say?'' I asked, keeping the same tone of voice as before.

''I don't know, where you were maybe. You just left Hayley. I didn't know where you were. You weren't at school yesterday. I kind of freaked out.''

''Look Josh, maybe I don't feel like talking about it okay? I'm sorry I made you freak out. I'm sorry." I told him, a little dryly.

I then headed to my locker to get my books for history. I felt kind of bad for talking to Josh so dryly. He was just worried for me. He deserved an explanation. I decided that after class I'd offer him to sleep over. Seeing as my mom wasn't there tonight it would be pretty awesome.

When class ended, I headed towards Josh's locker. I caught him before he got to his locker.

"Hey." I said awkwardly.

"Hey." He replied back. I could tell that I had slightly hurt him earlier.

"I'm sorry, Josh. About being so harsh earlier. And I'm extremely sorry about disappearing at the party. I was gone with some dude." I told him. He deserved to know.

"Gone with a dude?" He repeated after me.

"Yeah," I said, then continued, "I don't want to talk about it, but look, I wanted to know if you'd come over to my place tonight. My mom's not going to be there." I smiled at him.

"Hmmm...Are there gonna be any gnomes attacking me?" He asked, smiling back.

"Nope." I said, laughing.

"Alright then." He said, giving me a hug. I hugged back, awkwardly, seeing as we both had binders in our arms.

At the end of the day, Josh came to see me at my locker.

"So, I'll follow you." He said.

"Creep." I said, smiling while putting my stuff in my locker. Then I locked my locker and we headed towards our cars.

"So what do you wanna do?" I asked when we got to my place.

"Anything." He said, smiling.

"We can go for a walk." I proposed.

"Sure." He said. We walked out of the house, and I turned to the right, heading in any direction, going nowhere specific.

"So you said you left with a dude." He said. I suppose he meant it as a question, but I didn't feel like answering, so I took it as a statement.

"Who?" He asked. Well fuck. This was now the conversation.

''A dude.'' I said vaguely.

''His name maybe?'' Josh asked.

''Look Josh I don't -''

''Hayley, I deserve to know.'' He cut me off.

''No?'' I said, kind of hesitant, not sure.

''Yes, you left with some dude, I was worried as fuck Hayley. I want to know with who you left.'' He told me sternly. I was not enjoying this conversation, but he was kind of right.

''His name is Chris. That's all I know. Don't remember where he lived, or anything else.'' I told him.

''What did he look like?'' He asked me.

''Blonde hair, pale skin, and that's about all I can remember. Josh nodded, and we continued to walk. I could tell this was going to be an unresolved issue. But what the fuck was I supposed to do?

When we got home, I asked Josh what he wanted to eat. He said that the frozen pizza would be fine. I, personally was vegan, but I put the pizza in the oven and made myself a salad, typical.

In the meantime, an awkward silence filled the room.

''So...'' I said.

''So....'' Josh replied.

''What do you want to do?'' I asked him.

''Anything,'' He smiled at me. ''Let's watch a movie.'' He continued.

''Sure, what do you  want to watch?'' I asked him.

''The Goonies.'' He replied a little quickly.

''The Goonies?'' I asked, unsure.

''Yeah. Amazing movie. Amazing.'' He said.

''Wow. You learn weird things every day.'' I whispered, slightly teasing him. He glared at me, which caused me to smile a little more, and he smiled back.

We went to the living room, and I started the movie. Josh was already sitting on the couch, waiting for me. I went to sit beside him as the previews started. I always watched the previews.

''Hope you don't mind watching the previews.'' I told him.

''Whatever pleases you.'' He answered back.

About ten minutes later, the movie had about just started, Josh awkardly looked at me.

''You can sit closer if you like. I won't bite you know.'' He told me.

I smiled and got nearer to him. He was about to put his arm around my shoulder when the timer for the pizza rang. I automatically got up and went to get the pizza as well as my salad.

I gave Josh his pizza and sat beside him again. It was still pretty early, but I was kind of tired.

Josh's P.O.V.

Hayley gave me my slice of pizza, and sat beside me. She then started eating her salad. She was so beautiful, and I was starting to hate the timer for disrupting me while I was about to put my arm around her. It may seem like I was in love with her, but I wasn't. I thought that we really got along well, and just hoped that we could develop a very close friendship. I didn't really know what to think about the fact that she went home with some random guy. I figure I knew what had happened. It's not like she's my girlfriend, so I don't why I was so hurt.

I ate my pizza quietly. It was kind of awkward. Hayley was almost as awkward as Matt. Almost, but not quite. When I finished my pizza, I put my arms around Hayley's waist, and pulled her closer. She looked at me with curiosity filling her eyes.

"You look like you could use some cuddling." I said, sticking my tongue out at her.

She came closer to me, and rested her head on my shoulder. My heart was beating a little faster. Maybe I was starting to like her. But I had only known her for like a week. Anyways I don't know, I'd be better off if I got to know her first.

A little bit before the movie ended, she fell asleep on my lap, so when it was over, I brought her to her room, and lay down beside her. Sleepily, she cuddled into my chest. I could slightly see her face. She was beautiful.

And for the first time in a while, I fell asleep under two hours after going to bed.
