Chapter 9

Everyone was just relaxing while April went through the Rockwell's flashdrive on her laptop.

"Guys, I think I've found something. These notes are hard to follow, but it looks like Rockwell was able to modify the mutagen," April spoke up.

Leo looked over her shoulder and hummed. "Why would he do that?"

"He thought he could use it to create a neurochemical that would temporarily give someone psychic abilities," April explained.

"You mean that monkey was psychic?" Raph looked at April with wide eyes.

"It's more like he was reading our emotions. After all, he was only hostile when Donnie was hostile," April clarified.

Donnie grimaced as he punched his hand. "Yeah, well, next time I'll be sure to think friendly thoughts while I'm beating a little sunshine into him."

"Okay, we need to track him down before he attacks someone else. Let's go up to the surface, spread out, and search," Leo said as he looked at the others.

"How are we gonna stay in contact?" Raph asked.

"I have a little something that might help. Gentlemen and lady I give you The T-phone!" Donnie exclaimed as he stood up and pulled out a phone with a shell shaped casing.

"Dude, I'm in charge of naming stuff. I would've called it The T-phone," Mikey said dramatically.

Donnie gave a lopsided grimace. "I did call it the T-phone."

Mikey pouted as he crossed his arms, slumping a bit. "Yeah, but I would've called it the T-phone."

"And April, if you give me your cell number, I can patch you into our network," Donnie said as he held out his T-phone for her.

"Sweet!" April said as she took the phone and punched in her number.

"See that? I got her number," Donnie cheered with a childish grin.

"Her number's on the fridge, you dork," Raph grumbled.

"Guys, someone just spotted the monkey on Bleecker!" April relayed through the line.

"I think I'm on his trail," Raph replied and Leo nodded at the info.

"Mikey, the monkey is headed your way," Leo informed the youngest as he prepared himself at his own location.

"I've got eyes on him. He's headed south on Delancey!" Raph announced.

Donnie chimed in next. "I'm on Houston! I'll cut him off! Where'd he go?

Leo hummed before seeing the momkey going towards his youngest brother. "He changed direction! Mikey, the monkey is headed your way!"

"I'm on it! Watch it!" Mikey said over the phone and Leo huffed as he looked around the area.

"Anybody see where he went?" Leo asked the others as they all met up.

"I thought he headed off in that direction," Donnie said as he pointed north up the street.

"I thought it was that way," Raph argued as he pointed the opposite way.

"Here, monkey, monkey, monkey, monkey!" Mikey started calling.

Leo groaned as he looked around, ready to climb up to the rooftops to start the search again.

Before he moved, he saw April walking towards a dumpster so he stood still and motioned for his brothers to quiet down.

April opened the lid of the dumpster and out crawled the monkey.

Mikey immediately slung his chucks around the monkey which mad the mutant start to freak out. "Gotcha that time!"
