CODY'S POV

I'm awakened by the loud steps outside the cold cell, which I've been in for what seems like centuries, though it's been only a few days. I hear a faint jingle of keys as my eyes slowly come to life. Then the cell door rapidly slides open. Two large men in black come towards me and then slowly separate as a man emerges from in between them. It was my dad. His head was facing the floor and I could tell he was ashamed, ashamed that he had to be escorted into a jail cell to see his son, the one he surfs with, throws the ball with, laughs with, the one who is his companion. His head slowly tilts up as his eyes find mine. "Cody.." he

trailed off, I could hear all the pain in his voice, pain I caused. "What the hell?" His tone was angry now. I couldn't answer the question, what would I say? Everything I could say wouldn't make sense to him. "I didn't do it" I finally got out. Those are the words I've been wanting to say through this whole mess but I couldn't find the courage. The words didn't seem to make it better, he didn't believe me. He didn't believe his companion. " Denial isn't gonna make this go away Cody, a man was killed in that fire -" I cut him off. "So was Emmy" my mouth seemed to move without my brain. Why would I say that? It seemed as though my mind was trying to tell me something, but I'm not going to believe it. I'm not going to believe that the only person I wake up every morning for, the only one who knows the real me and has stayed, is gone. "No" I quickly tried to recover myself. "Wait, what? Cody, your not making sense" my dad began. There was a feeling inside me that I haven't felt much before. I could feel my body become tense and my eyes grow dark, it was a feeling that I tried to avoid because I hate how it makes me but I have to fight for her. "SHE'S NOT DEAD" I nearly screamed at the nervous faces surrounding me. I felt warm trails begin to form on my face as I let all the pain out. "Please" I whimpered. "Just let me find her".

EMMY'S POV

The first thing I see is a large black barrel staring at me through its evil eyes, daring me to challenge it. "Well, I'll be damned, yew woke up" his cold harsh voice sent shivers through my spine. "Sorry, I didn't know" I hesitantly said. My voice was weak, and the words hurt to squeeze out. "Sorry doesn't cut it little lady, what chu' did here was a crime, and I should get cha' arrested for it. If you don't wanna' go ta' jail, you'll have to work for it, ya hear?" A grin quickly grew on his face. "Okay" my voice croaked. The man quickly shuffled out of the shed as he motioned for me to follow. He led me to an old building that looked as if it was once a library. He led me up an old, creaky staircase to a dusty room. He grabbed my arm and slammed me into a chair that was resting in the middle of the room. He pulled ropes out from an open box behind him as he tied me to the chair. I felt a few tears fall down my cheeks as I wished for Cody. Wished for him to be right by my side, for him to brush my hair out of my face, wipe my tears, then kiss my burns. But most of all I wished to see his beautiful lips form the words I have been waiting for for so long "I love you". "Please Cody, come save me" I whispered to the empty air, wishing for him to hear.
