EMMY'S POV
The man was one of the largest I've ever seen and he as well smelled of must. We'll, aren't you purty he said as a large grin slowly spread across his face. His voice was deep and it sent chills up my spine. He moved his large hand forward and gently rubbed the side of my face as if he was trying to calm me. That same hand that just seemed so nice and gentle then moved towards my inner thigh and it seemed rough and dirty. I tried to scream but his other hand was placed over my mouth. My insides were turning and my skin began to tighten. I felt as though I couldn't move, like there was something so heavy on top of me and I couldn't escape. Before I even knew what I was doing I realized my left foot had loosened the rope that was enclosing my ankles. As slowly and quiet as I could I unhooked the loops surrounding my ankles and with all the force my weak and shivering body had I kicked the large man. The kick felt so weak in my foot, like it couldn't even take down a strand of grass. I quickly shut my eyes scared of what would come next. My body was prepared for any pain that would be sent my way but none came. I opened my eyes to find the large man on the ground and the first guy I encountered hovering a shovel over the large man's head. Wha-what happened? I managed to spit out. The man with the shovel was breathing heavily as he approached me. He bent down towards me and untied the ropes around my wrists. As he was bent down beside me, I could see tears in his eyes. For the first time I realized he had fear of another. He helped me to stand up and he moved his lips close to my ear. I'm so sorry but you need to run, run far away from here and never come back he gently whispered and at that moment I started running and I finally felt strength again.
CODY'S POV
I heard rustling outside my cell and quickly turned around. It was the guards and in between them was my dad. Mr. Simpson your free to leave your bail has been posted the larger of the guards said to me with a blank expression. Dad? You bailed me out? I said less excitedly than he would have expected. Yeah and I went to your college and told them to forget about you attending. Listen Cody, your whole heart is out there somewhere alone and as much as it kills me to say it she may even be hurting and we have to go find her my dad said with a sincere look. My dad has never said something that gave me such a queasy feeling. My heart aches with every cell and I don't think it will ever feel joy again unless Emmy is right by my side. I gave my dad a look of gratitude, a look that is so natural from me when I'm around him. He nodded towards me already knowing my thoughts and assuring me that he was okay with them. I then ran as fast as I could out the front door of the prison, not stopping till I have Emmy in my arms.
