Veer's POV:

Shrishti has been very distant from the time we came back. She had been ignoring me and all. She was talking to Prayas for a while, I'm not sure why. We got to business right after we got back. Things needed to be done. But still, we weren't going anywhere. Shrishti told she'll help us but she went through a rough patch with her brother.

"Shrishti!" Reena's voice resonated. She was trying to get Shri out of her trance. Shrishti snapped her attention back to us. I looked at Aisha who shrugged.

"Yeah, sorry guys. Where were we again?" Shri asked. She kept her gaze hooked on Prayas. Uh...excuse me? Why is she getting close to him?

"Uh right, we were on the topic of not having any damn progress in this mission, that's where we were," Shiv spoke. I had actually forgotten about him. He left to go somewhere all these days. He got back just a couple of days ago. Shrishti sighed.

She picked up her phone and called someone.

"Hello?...yes. How are you Madhav?" she said. Who is Madhav? And why does she seem a little happy talking to him? I looked over and saw Aisha a bit worried.

"Anyway, I...I needed a favour...no, no it's not that. Can we meet up sometime soon?" Shri jabbed Shiv who sat next to her and made annoying noises. "Of course. That would be good. When are you coming back?...cool, I'll meet you there then? Okay, bye. Take care."

As soon as she hung up Shrishti threw her phone on the table and cringed. "Ew," she said and got up, while walking away she muttered, "Talking to your ex after so long is awkward as hell, people."

Ex?! What the hell? I looked at Aisha who just turned away. Prayas looked a bit agitated as well. What kind of a man would he be if Shrishti is kind of afraid of him?

...Time passed. No, literally. We did no other work and wanted all our time. It was past evening and we all had our dinner. Shrishti, Shiv, Aisha, and the twins were all at the minibar drinking. Shrishti had such a stoic face that intimidated me.

Jai sat down beside me at the table.

"How have you been, dude? Haven't spoken to you in a while," he said.

"You would've spoken if you weren't busy with Aisha," I said.

"Hey, come on. Are you not a teeny bit happy for us?"

"Look, I don't know what you two are. I don't know at what stage you're relationship is. But please watch out."

"What do you mean?"

"Don't get me wrong, Jai. You're a damn cop. She is a criminal. How do you think your story is going to end? After this case, you shouldn't be anyone to her."

Jai looked at me for a while. His eyes were a bit angered. But I just said the truth.

"You think so much about the future that you lose out on so much. So much right in front of you. And I don't need your advice. Hold your relationships in check and then speak of mine." He said and stormed off.
