Shrishti's POV:

I hastily started towards the airport after having changed my clothes at a local store in Vegas. I tried my best to disguise myself. I walked towards the airport with the remaining money I have hoping to fly to India as soon as possible.

I looked around the airport after entering and found no one is suspicious of me. I was paranoid and disturbed. The bloodstains were still around my nails. My feet trembled with every step I took. I turned a corner of the airport to calm my breath down. I kept a hand on my chest and heaved a heavy breath.

"Absconding?" I heard a voice say beside me. I turned to him, to find Madhav leaning against the wall of the airport. I sighed in relief. He looked at me pitifully.

"If you don't stop looking at me like that I'll break your nose," I said trying my best to seem confident.

But he was Madhav. He saw through my words. He turned to me and wrapped his arm around me comfortingly. It only took seconds for my eyes to well up again. I hugged him back. He placed his chin on my head and held me tighter.

"Let's abscond together."

...

29th June.

I sit here wondering how my life fell apart in a month. I received yet another call from my kin.

"Our warehouses are being raided by CBI. We have moved the stuff away for now, but without a place to keep them, they can't be helped." The guy on the other side said and hung up. I sit on the chair at my base in Pune, locking all entrances and changing entry passwords.

Madhav sat before me on another chair. He has been quiet. Though he didn't know I used to sell drugs to hospitals. Though he never even knew what I did for a living.

I gripped my head with my hand while I sighed and held my hair from falling on my face. I felt exhausted and jetlagged. My head weighed a ton. I had trouble moving my body due to cramps.

I have not received a single call from Shiv who went to check on the warehouses and bases. I hope he is well.

"What was the call about?" Madhav questioned, pushing towards me a cup of water. I took a huge gulp of the water and leaned back against the chair wrapping my arms around myself.

"Our warehouses are being raided by CBI" I meekly answered closing my eyes and dropping my head back.

"CBI? That's weird."

"Why?"

"Your case was in the hands of IB. Why would they suddenly give it to the CBI?"

"Maybe they handed the case off to CBI after having failed to catch us?"

"Your case was led by Veer. He has absolute control over whether IB hands over your case or not because you are his accomplice. He has all the power to stop it."
