"I can do this.. i can do this.. i can do-"
(Y/n) keeps repeating to herself as she walks around the main city of Sumeru. she is currently preparing herself on how all of this will play out. when she had agreed to this deal, she promised herself that no feelings will be involved. no matter what.
"You know, if you keep on saying 'i can do this,' it will basically make yourself feel more nervous." a voice chimes in which nearly frightened (Y/n).
Turning around, she sees Malik staring down at her with a grin. puffing her cheeks, (Y/n) jabbed at his chest with her finger, "don't you know that it's rude to scare people like that?"
Tilting his head in confusion, "like what?" he asked cluelessly which made the woman in front of him roll her eyes. grinning once more, Malik just chuckled and reached over to ruffle her hair, "i'm just playing with you. relax a little, little lady."
(Y/n) ignored his statement and continued on walking around, which made Malik catch up with her. "so how do you want to do this? hold hands? hug? eat at a restaurant together?"
As the woman was walking, she felt Malik suddenly stop his steps, making her turn back to him.
Malik made an innocent face and just blinked, "is this your first time dating?" feeling all embarrassed, (Y/n) swiftly turn around and walk away, ignoring the loud laugh Malik soon let out.
It's not really (Y/n)'s fault that she had never been in a real relationship before. her heart can only take so much that she decided to let her heart be in a certain general's hands. unfortunately, her heart was immediately destroyed as Cyno dropped it for another woman. a better woman that can take anyone's heart by a snap.
Slowing her steps, (Y/n) noticed her cheeks being slightly wet due to tears running down. placing a hand on her face, she feels the wetness touching her fingertip.
Malik who already stopped laughing, now furrowed his brows in worry as he stared at (Y/n)'s back. coming closer to the woman, he noticed the tears casting down, making his face fallen into guilt.
"H-Hey, i didn't mean to hurt you, little lady. are you alright?" Malik placed a hand on her shoulder and leaned down to see her face closer, but all he got was a shove.
Shoving off his hand from her shoulder, (Y/n) wiped her tears and looked away, "i'm okay, i was just deep in thought. no need to worry-!"
Suddenly yelping as Malik stood in front of her and cupped both her cheeks into his larger hands. staring directly into her bloodshot eyes with a hard stare, "no. it was wrong of me to joke about that and i'm sorry. i know that your love life is a sensitive topic which is why today, i'll make you feel better." Malik said as he feels her cheeks being warm between his hands.
Widening her eyes, (Y/n) feels her tears coming again, but due to happiness blooming in her chest. "you really do know how to apologize.. huh?"
Letting go of her cheeks and scratching the back of his neck nervously, "why? was it that bad?"
