Luckily for me, Astoria is the best best friend on the planet. After the completely unnecessary comment by Theo, we promptly ate and left the great hall to retire to our room.
Now, we are laying side by side on my bed, staring at the ceiling.
"You don't have to talk about it if you don't want to, but what's up with you and Nott?"
I turn my head to face her, finding her already looking at me. I let out a breath.
"I've only met him like, twice before, but our families have serious drama," I begin, "His dad killed my uncle before the Dark Lord fell. And my mom killed one of their cousins, I think, so it goes both ways. Since my parents used to be members of the Order of the Phoenix, they've just had a lot of run-ins with Death Eaters, and his family happens to be the most common one they run into. Our dads had a massive face off as well that ended pretty badly. He was in recovery for like a month," I say shaking my head. "Not to mention I've met him like twice before today and he was a total prick both times."
"Wow. That's a lot."
We lay in silence for a bit. Moving our eyes back to the ceiling we had enchanted to look like stars.
Moments pass.
"Maybe he's not as bad as his family," Astoria faces me again, breaking the silence.
I shift to my side and prop my head up on my hand. "I don't know Astoria. I actually met him at a wedding a few years back and he was super rude. He started a fight with my brother and told him he was glad his father killed my uncle." I grimace at the memory. "He didn't speak to me at the wedding, but I got plenty of dirty looks from him."
Astoria was silent, still looking at me. Her lips pressed into a thin line.
"I'm going to talk to Draco. I'm sure if he knows he'll stop hanging out with them."
"Oh gosh no, don't do that. I can deal with it. I don't want Draco to stop being friends with anyone on my behalf. Besides, you're on my side and that's all I need." I smile back at her.
"Ugh, come here," she says, sitting up and pulling me into a hug. "You're my best friend, you know that right?"
"Always," I reply, hugging her back.

Draco has just informed me that our newest friends will be joining our Potions class.
Perfect.
All I can think about as I walk to class with my friends is how grateful I am that the tables have two seats, and Astoria and I are already sitting together.
They don't get to take this away from me. Potions is one of my favorite classes. Slughorn loves me and I'm good at it. I'm second in the class, next to Potter, of course.
We walk into the dungeon classroom and I nearly drop my books at the sight. Nott is sitting at my table. I look to Astoria, already fuming, and march over to the table.
"You can't just sit wherever you want. This is Astoria's and my table." I grab his books and begin to move them to another table.
He grabs my arm, his hand wrapping all the way around, and yanks me back.
"I don't think so. Professor told me to sit here. He's paired the new students up with the good ones so you can help us adjust," he sneers, "but I'm going to request a different partner. Don't worry."
I look at him, bewildered, as he stands, grabs his things back, and walks up to the professor. Astoria has been paired with the Lestrange girl and she's moved a few rows back because of it.
