»Where Do Broken Hearts Go - One Direction«

N

A couple days went by since I had found out about Harry buying a gun to keep me safe. Things have been okay. No one has really tried to take me...only because Harry wouldn't take me out to places anymore. I get that he was really paranoid, but I didn't want to be stuck in the house or even stuck in the office.

Harry was currently looking over some paperwork at his desk as I paced back and forth across the floor. I was trying to think of something to say to him that would get him to agree to go somewhere that didn't involve our house or here. But every time I'd open my mouth to speak, someone would knock on the door to ask Harry a question about one of the projects that he had assigned them. I would usually excuse myself from the office and go around and check on the workers.

I had befriended one of the workers here. His name was Louis Tomlinson. He was a nice lad; just two years older than I. He wasn't yet 27 for his birthday was in Decemeber. Yes, I was already that close with him that we exchanged birthdays. I didn't see a problem with it, but somehow I knew Harry probably would.

He never did like it whenever anyone would talk to me when it wasn't him. I mean, I remember whenever Indie would touch me (cue the shiver), Harry would be pissed off and tell her to let me go. And I remember when I was driving him home from being in prison, I had told him about making some friends. I knew he was mad or really jealous at the fact that someone was talking to me; spending their time and getting close to me.

Was Harry overprotective? There was no doubt about it and at the point, it didn't really bother me. At least I was safe, right? That's all that matters, right?

"Is he ignoring you again, Mr. Horan?" Louis asked me as he looked up from his laptop.

"He's not really...ignoring me. He's just really busy. And I told you to call me Niall. You know I hate being called by Mr. Horan."

I still hated it. Yes, that was my name but like I said before, all the formality shit was annoying.

"But that is your--"

"You'd understand why if you had a staff and bodyguards constantly calling you that all day long."

Louis let out a soft laugh.

"He's just trying to protect you, Niall."

I nodded.

"I know. It's just...I think that he forgets that I am older than him. I'm not that helpless. I mean I got through three and a half years without him..."

"Yeah but you had the help of family to keep you sane. Without them...where would you be?"

The looney bin, probably. Was I about to admit that to Louis? Absolutely not. He didn't need to know. It wasn't necessary.

Louis went back to working on his laptop as I looked around at the other employees working hard. I walked away from Louis' desk to check on them only to come back to his desk minutes later.

"You know, we should get some coffee some--"

"That's not going to happen, Mr. Tomlinson."

In that moment, I froze. Harry was behind me and by his voice, I knew he wasn't exactly happy.

"It would only be a little get-together, Mr. Styles," Louis said, defending himself.

"The answer is no and that's final."

"Harry..." I said as I slowly turned to him, "if I want to go out for coffee with Louis--"

"Mr. Tomlinson."
