Chapter 9. Nightmare

Author's notes: Before we begin, I want to say a couple of things. One, this chapter is horror themed. Before the spooky stuff begins (don't even know if it's good or not, wanting to see feedback!) I will put a warning, so don't worry. Also, this is the only chapter in which you are not in Y/N's P.O.V at any time. If that's an inconvenience, my apologies because troubling you it's not what I intended.

With that in mind, let's get going with the chapter!

LUCY P.O.V

It was over. We raided the entire base yet we now have other problems to take care off. After dropping everyone on their house except Kiwi, who's help I'm gonna need for this, Y/N she and I returned to his apartment.

Y/N has been put to sleep in his bed while Kiwi works on him, using her skills to try and figure out what the fuck is going on inside of his head. He was wearing a helmet used for BD's, we're gonna use it to let me or Kiwi enter his head if needed. It's been 3 hours and so far, no answers. We were so focused on him none of us got out of our suits, me still even wearing the mask.

Kiwi:"This is... too much."

Lucy:"What do you mean?"

Kiwi:"Y/N's mind is just something else. It doesn't work like anything I've ever seen. His brain is just like... a computer if you will."

Lucy:"He's a robot?"

Kiwi:"That's the thing, he's human yet his brain is a computer. I don't really know how to explain it it's like... how a brain would look like if it were turned into a machine. There's millions of files here, all of them being his memories, personalities, thoughts... fuck even intrusive thoughts pop up here and there just to be immediatly erased."

Lucy:"Fuck... but that's good, right? If he works like a machine we can find the problem quickly."

Kiwi:"Yeah good luck with that, I would need years to find it like this. One of us will have to make a dive into his brain."

Lucy:*Sigh* "Just like old times..."

Kiwi:"This is different tho. We've never entered someone's brain, Lu. I don't know what can we do to Y/N so you must be really careful. Don't screw up or we might trigger something horrible or even worse, change him."

Lucy:"Right. Let me get naked and I'll do it."

I started stripping, getting my suit off. All this time I was focused on Kiwi's face. She was so serious and also worried.

Lucy:"Tell me, you founded something wrong, right?"

Kiwi:"Don't think much about this but... I think those hallucinations Y/N has may be forced inside his head by someone. You see... they are appearing and every time I try to get inside them, they immediatly dissappear. They stay there for a long time... until I try to get in them."

Lucy:"That's weird but what makes you think someone's putting them in him?"

Kiwi:"First off, while the creator of the file is Y/N himself, it has been modified an unkown amount of times by an also unkown person. Lastly, when I say "get in" I mean modify the file. I can access it's contents but I can't change it."

Lucy:"A Netrunner perhaps?"

Kiwi:"Could be. He should've left a backdoor somewhere in his thoughts. That's what you're looking for. Find the folder containing those files and erases them."

Once I was finally naked, I went to the bathroom just to see all the equipment ready for me to dive in his memories. I got in the bathtub and grabbed the helmet, staring at it.
