THE rain started to drizzle from the sky just as Rosalie pulled up in front of Elexia's house. They decided they'd go stay at Elexia's until it was time to go play baseball.
Her eyes landed on her father's car in the driveway and she sighed. She figured Rosalie would want to announce their relationship to him now.
"You go in first, I'll be right in." Rosalie tilted her head towards the door.
Elexia nodded, opening the passenger side door slowly before stepping out and rushing to the door before the rain started coming down really heavy.
"Lex!" Austin smiled from the couch. "I just got home from work. Literally two minutes before you got in."
"Hey, Dad," Elexia smiled, walking over to the kitchen to make some quick chicken for dinner. He made his way to the kitchen island to eat with her.
"What'd you do today? Did you go to Bella's?" Austin asked once he sat.
"Uh, no." She hesitated. "I've been over at the Cullens'."
"Oh," Austin nodded slowly, not expecting that answer. "You and Rosalie have gotten close, huh?"
"Yes. . ." Elexia turned to face him fully. "Dad, Rosalie and I are. . I'm going on a date with her tonight,"
Austin's eyes widened.
"Dad."
"Elexia, are you two dating? I see the way you are around each other. . . And be honest, I can tell when you're lying to me."
"Yes." Elexia sighed.
"I didn't expect- I didn't. . . Well, Lex, I didn't expect for you to date in high school. You know, with the pregnancy and everything." Austin struggled.
"I didn't really think so either, but. ."
"Is she going to come over again any time soon?"
"She'll be here in a few minutes."
"Oh." Austin nodded. "So, she's completely comfortable - as a teenager, being a-a step-mom?"
"Yes," Elexia nodded quickly. "Rose loves babies,"
"What date are you guys going on tonight?" Austin asked. "Dinner? The movies?"
"Well, it's not really a date. The whole family is going. Edward - Rosalie's brother - is bringing Bella, too. They're going to play baseball. I'm just gonna watch, cause, y'know," She made a circling motion with her hand around her stomach.
"Edward is dating Bella?" Elexia nodded. "Jesus."
Elexia laughed at that.
"Isn't it storming? Why would they take you to play baseball in a storm?"
"We're going to a clearing just outside of town, just missing the rain."
"Okay. ." He was weary. "And the parents are going?"
"Yes, I promise."
"Be careful, Lex. I don't want you hurt. At all."
The knock on the door made both Elexia and Austin's heads snap to it.
"Do you wanna get it or should I?" Elexia asked.
"Together," Austin nodded.
Both of them stood up and walked to the door. Elexia was the one to actually open it, though. Rosalie stood there getting partially drenched in the rain; which was now coming down much harder.
Elexia reached out and grabbed Rosalie's arm, pulling her into the house - an action that didn't go unnoticed by Austin.
"Get in, you're soaked!" Elexia groaned, pulling her to her usual seat at the kitchen island. Rosalie had an amused smile on her face.
