"Whew pray for me tonight" I say
"She's going to be better hopefully" her mom says as the team just can't get it together tonight. She's playing fine and doing what she needs to, it's a team game though. Everyone isn't on the same page and even in the 3rd quarter it's obvious we're gonna lose this one. We're comin down for an offensive possession and I'm sure she's comin out for the night soon. She goes up for the rebound and in the chaos I guess landed awkwardly. She falls to the ground and clutches her ankle. The team comes to check on her and soon the medical staff is next
"Goddamit" her dad says as they continue checkin on her
"I couldn't see through everything" I say as none of the angles they're replaying show it clearly. Probably good I hate watching stuff like that it makes me cringe
"It's probably a bad ankle sprain" she says and I nod my head as they help her up. They're about to help her walk to the locker room and she limps off
"Hard headed ass, let them help you" I say
"Stubborn as ever girl" she says
"She mad that's why" he says and probably is because they might not clear her for the next game
"Gonna hurt herself worse" I say and we unhappily sit through the rest of the game. After I catch up with Savannah
"Whew bitch what the fuck was that" she says
"I don't know it was bad as hell I know that" I say
"Poor passes, bad defense, like oh my God it was a mess. He finna wear my ear out about it just to say I don't get it when I tell him what he needs to hear. Then tomorrow will be like I see whatchu sayin now babe I'm sorry" she says mockin his voice at the end and I laugh. I see we both deal with big ass babies
"Sounds just like mine and now she's hurt. It's about to be a lot of babying" I say and I don't mind because she acts so hard. So I love that I've created a safe enough space for her to be soft
"Just lays on my chest and goes on and on. I'm sitting there just listening and tellin him what he needs to hear. He may not like it but I don't care, not finna just hear what he wants" she says
"Savannah" a boomin voice calls out and you can see people visibly tense up
"Lord have mercy got these people scared. Let me go, I'll call you girl" she says giving me a hug
"Ok talk to you later" I say and she's one of the last ones out. Unfortunately, she's in a walking boot but that doesn't mean she isn't cleared to play. It could be just to help walkin and relieve some of the pressure off of it. I have a feeling, if she couldn't finish the game then it's bad. I see her lip stuck out and we finna deal with that right now "uh huh stop that" I say and she groans
"You ain't even gimme my rant" she says and she's right on that so I'll be fair
"Ok we'll talk about it. I'm sorry baby but you did your best" I say giving her a kiss
"Thank you" she says simply but I know she has more to say
"You want a hug" I say and she nods her head. I open my arms and she gives me a hug. I rub her back soothingly "I love you" I say
"I love you too" she says and she goes and talks with her family
"What'd they say" his dad asks
"Got a MRI and allat tomorrow. They think it's a sprain but want to be sure with the tests" she says and ok a sprain is a game, not too bad
"Could you walk or put any pressure on it" her mom asks
"Kind of, if hurt though ain't even gon cap. It's like a sharp naggin feelin right on the ball of my ankle" she says and she's pretty tough so if she could barely walk she might be done for the series. Now if we can get her to do that once she feels like she can do it, I don't know
