Baby sensory videos played on Nat's tv while we laughed at nearly everything that popped onto the screen. I've learned so far that Nat is a talker when she's buzzed. She blabbered on about things I couldn't care less about but I listened nonetheless. We didn't drink to the point of being shitfaced but achieved the perfect buzz. Before we put on sensory videos, Nat insisted we take pictures on my camera for memories. The photos included us flipping off the camera and my favorite, Nat peeking her eyes out from my afro. That one was wall worthy. A loud alarm brought me back into reality.

"It's time!" Nat beamed. She held her phone to me and the alarm was labeled Meet and Greet. I totally forgot we were going to that.

"Uh, yeah. Let me just.." I trailed off while finger-picking out my afro. I frantically pull my hair from my face for it to bounce right back. My afro usually sits on my forehead and covers my eyes, to which I let it. Still, just this once I needed it to cooperate. Fuck it.

"Liv come on, we don't want to be late." Nat chuckled, swaying. I grabbed my camera and started to make my way toward the door.

"Shall we have one for the road?" She questioned holding up 2 shot glasses. I smirked and grabbed one as both started to down the shot.

"Ok, now let's go!"

The greet was held in our hall but little did we know, it was on the other side of the building and this building is enormous. It felt like hours before we arrived because we laughed and occasionally stumbled on the way. When we finally arrived, there were tables and chairs set up for us. We took our seats in the back and talked while waiting for the room to fill. As it hit around 8PM, people started to show. As we were seated, a lady with red hair began to speak. Telling us to help ourselves to refreshments and explaining the ice breakers. Her speech started to drag as you could see students getting restless as she went on.

"Well, I think that's it! Help yourselves and get to know each other!" She smiled as she gave us a thumbs up.

Everyone burst into conversation, moving around to talk to one another. Everyone of any gender filled the room. Before we knew it, the room was filled with noise. I hear a set of voices get closer to us and look up to see a group of boys. They all had different hair colors: blond, black, and ginger. They reminded me of the Powerpuff girls. I look over at Nat to see her scrolling aimlessly through her phone. I quickly nudged her arm to get her attention.

"Hey, you guys looked cool and we just wanted to say hi." The ginger said mostly to Nat like I wasn't there.

"Oh come on," The blond boy sighed. "Don't be a pussy, he thought you were hot."

Nat and I stared at each other and started to laugh. The ginger looked pale in the face from his friend's statement. I can already tell the blond is a handful.

"I'm sorry, Cole just sometimes doesn't know when to shut up" Ginger puts emphasis on the 'shut up' with his whole heart.

"It's fine, you're pretty cute yourself so I'll let it slide." Nat smirked and he blushed a bit. Is she usually flirty with guys or is it the alcohol? I'll ask her later just for safety purposes.

"So, what's everyone's name?" I tried a pathetic attempt to change the subject.

"Oh uh, my name is Ian and his name is Shawn," The ginger said as he pointed to a brown-skinned boy with a nice haircut. "And the dumbass over here is Cole." he grumbled, pointing to the blond.

"But you can call me whatever you like." Cole smirked as he wrapped his arm around my shoulder.

"Oh, I actually don't like-"

As I was about to talk, I heard a lot of noise from the corner of the room that got my attention. Bingo! That's our cue to ditch these guys.

"Hey, we should check out what's going on over there?" I looked at Nat who was talking with Ian.

"Where?" Cole questioned and looked to where I was referring, "Oh, that's nothing. It's just Brett and Gwen, people are always kissing their ass." He chuckled.

I felt my heartbeat stop for a moment. Gwen? I haven't heard that name in forever. A big smile started to spread across my face just from the mention of her name. It couldn't be the same Gwen, right? No fucking way. Before I knew it, I walked over to the corner where the noise came from.

"Hey, I never got your name!" Cole yelled. His voice quickly got drowned out by my curiosity.

I found myself pushing against the crowd towards the front. I mean there's no possible way-

There she was. Gwen. My childhood best friend, Gwen. She still had her long silky blonde hair but no glasses? Maybe she's wearing contacts? Before Kai, Gwen was my very first friend. She was merely the only girl influence I had in my entire life. It was just me and my dad before Gwen. Growing up, my closet consisted of only graphic tees and jeans. I always wanted to wear what the other girls wore in school but I had no clue where to start. Typical girly things like crop tops and makeup were unknown to me until Gwen. She would do my makeup and dress me up any chance she had. Then when Kai came along, we were a trio. We did everything together until about 8th grade. One day, she was just gone. I had to learn from my dad that she and her parents had moved away. Until this day, I still have a bit of resentment that she left without a word.

I wonder how she's already known as a freshman? I look to the right when I see the guy next to her. He seems like a total dick. He has brown curly hair with blue eyes. He's obnoxiously laughing with a group of guys within the crowd who had Westbrook jerseys on so I assumed they were on a sports team. I got too eager to talk to her and before I knew it, I stood facing her back.

"Gwen?" I questioned as I gently tapped her shoulder.

"Wha-" As she turned around, the color drained from her face. She looked like she saw a ghost. She immediately turned back around and started talking to 2 other girls, completely ignoring me. Ok, that was weird?

I started to tap her shoulder again when she snapped back around cutting me off, "Look, I don't know you. You must have the wrong person."

For a moment, I felt my heart shatter. Was she really going to act like we didn't know each other? When did she get this bitchy? She was always straightforward and confident which can come off as bitchy but now, she's just purposely being a bitch.

"Gwen, your parents' names are literally Christinia and Ryan Thomas." I retorted, with anger bubbling inside of me and I rarely get angry. Why is she doing this?

Everyone must have been surprised I actually knew her because the room goes silent with all eyes on us. I start to get nervous with all the sudden attention. And even now, she just looks like a deer in headlights. One of her friends beside her then stepped in front of me.

"Look, if she doesn't know you, she doesn't know you. Knowing her parents' names isn't going to change anything" A blonde said. I looked to see if Gwen was going to say anything but she didn't. What the fuck?

I felt someone tap my shoulder, "Hey, let's just go." Nat said with a pitiful look resting on her face. As much as I wanted to stay there and yell at Gwen, I knew that would blow up in my face. If she tried to act like we didn't know each other, then so be it. Before I could turn around, Gwen gave Nat a disgusted look as she pulled me away.

What the actual fuck is her problem?
