The sun was bright, shining onto the lake. The cub slowly woke up, yawning. It sniffed around, wondering where it was.
"Hey girl." The Viking said softly, patting the small dragons head. It roared happily, as it's small, purple eyes looked up at the Viking. She pushed the fish closer to the young dragon. "Look. Food." She said, dangling the fish in front of the dragon. It didn't seem to be interested in her food, or not hungry. She sighed, knowing this dragon would have to eat something soon, or it would die.
The dragon stumbled weakly over to the stream, pawing at it's reflection while growling playfully. The Viking sighed happily and got up. "I have to go... But you stay here. I'll be back, I promise. And you better eat some fish." She laughed, grabbing her bag and running off.
The dragon was alone, for the first time. She sniffed the fish hungrily, before beginning to munch happily on it.
It wasn't long before she began to feel threatened, like something was watching her. The cub stood its ground, raising its tiny wings to make itself look bigger while snarling to tell any dangerous creatures to back off. She looked around, feeling safe again...Something launched on to the cub, pinning her down and roaring playfully. She tried to see what it was, but her head was being pushed to the ground.
There was a bigger roar. A family? The weight that had been holding her down, was suddenly gone. She looked up to see another type of dragon staring down at her curiously."Hello young dragon, what's your name?" The big one spoke, it's voice was deep but caring. It's big blue eyes looked down at her, as the other small one was jumping around like a maniac.
"Can you speak?" It asked, tilting its head. She had the sudden urge to shake her head, as in saying No. "Ah, well, I can teach you." It smiled, sitting down next to her.It was almost dusk, but she was already speaking fluently.
"Ok, say your name." He asked. This was the final test. She had heard her name be said only once, but she tried to remember it.
"...Starshot, I think it was." Her voice shook a little, as she stared to the ground."That's a beautiful name!" The Nadder smiled. The cub had grown a lot aswell in one day, and eaten quite a bit. "So, where are your parents, young Fury?" He asked.
"I...I don't know..." She looked up to him.
"It seems like you've had the same start to your life as most other Furies..." He sighed.
"What is that supposed to mean?" She looked worried.
"You'll find out when your older, Starshot. Well, if you need us, we won't be far away." He said, getting up, taking his hatchling with him."Goodbye..." She sighed. They were already out of sight. She curled up in the sand, her tail wrapped around her body, as she drifted off to sleep...
