I sent a quick message to Kitan, in which she quickly gave me a positive reply. I sighed resting my head on the headrest inside the car we were currently in.
I look at him through the review mirror, his eyes closed, tired lines on his forehead. He looks tattered and tired.
"He will be alright" he assured me. I shift my eyes to look at me.
We were in his car, my brother just got released from the cell. Apparently, Murewa contacted one of his brothers who phoned the station asking them why they had. held one of his loved ones unlawfully.
After that call, my brother did not use up to twenty minutes in that place.
What power and connection can do in this country....
We had to stop at a chemist shop to get him some painkillers and anti malaria due to what he want through in that hellhole.
"Thank you. If you hadn't made that call, my brother will still be there"
"It is nothing" he waved it off before giving me a small smile. Turning on the ignition, he starts the car before looking at me "so where to?"
I gave him Feyi's address. It is too late to go back to school and I know i won't be able to sleep properly knowing fully well my brother is in this condition.
"Are you sure she is okay with this?" he asked in concern.
"I gave her a run down of what happened. She is a good friend of mine and she is so okay with it"
We drove through the busy road, i hear a hiss from the back as we entered a pothole.
I turn around immediately. Looking worried at his pained face as he held his head. His possessions were resting beside him.
"Sorry... " I hear Murewa muttered.
"Are you okay?" he nodded but this time he sat up looking more awake.
"If you see the kain suffa i suffa from their hands. You go pity me" he said adjusting the hoodie he was wearing.
"Pele dear"
"That is how some people ended up in jail. They get arrested for no reasons, when they have no one to bail them out. The innocent ones sometimes ends up in jail"
"It is getting too rampant in this country. This unlawful arrest issue."
"Sugar Rush, do you know the amount of time i had been stopped by police officers on the road due to my looks? Countless times dear"
I blushed all of a sudden, not only due to the pet name he called me in front of my brother but I hear Adeyemi cleared his throat in a rather playful manner.
Stupid boy.
We got to Kitan's apartment, she was already waiting for us by the gate. She stared weirdly at the car and the look of surprise came upon her face as soon as I stepped out of the car. She was able to recognize me even with the darkness.
"Babe. How far?" she paused as Adeyemi came out from the back of the car "ha! Baby mii... Pele"
She said showering him with so much attention which Adeyemi seemed to be bathing in. Under the little time they had known each other, they had grown so close.
"Aunty Kitan.. Iya je mii o. I suffa" he said shaking his head dramatically.
"Ah! Oloriburuku ni won. God will punish them for me!"
