"Well, stranger..I didn't think you would answer so quickly now, would you?"
It's a miracle that I got a hold of the phone system in this place. Well, with the help of Cade's tech running data metrics and over-running the security systems.
This wasn't the most conniving way of getting to headquarters but it will be faster now that I found the place.
As of now, we just only broke into the cover in front of this tailor shop.
"But you're surprised that I answered? I'm not a pussy you know." She calls back.
I missed those times where she'd always talk shit, knowing that it's her way to be sarcastic yet audacious with me. However, this isn't exactly one of those times where I get to see her smile after she comments.
I scoff. "Yeah, but I know you're not ready for what's about to happen when I tell you that your security measures are offline." I tease her.
There's a soft growl coming from my earpiece communicator. "Well, thanks for that because you're actually the one leaving yourself wide open to a place full of people who want to kill you."
"I thought you were smarter than this, baby."
"Oh believe me Harry, I always was. You just tend to go through the motions like it's a simple kill, but I gotta say you're one to talk to.
I can't believe I'm actually talking to her again, just levels up from where headquarters lies down under. Cade better be finding the entryway to this rat infest system fast before she ends the call.
As soon as I got rid of the front lady who tried denying me ten times that I couldn't go to the back, I had to take matters into my own hands and just pull the trigger. Now the hard part is to get to the main control board and down a hundred levels of some sort.
"So, you only found a part of where I am, huh?" Sloane returns the call to my ear.
I keep working on this big bookcase in the back of the store that's definitely hiding their main entrance.
"Easy to say, I'm used to finding the target wherever, whenever." I replied.
She huffs. "Well being the son of the SIDD commander does have its perks, I'd say."
I instantly freeze at her words, dropping whatever I'm holding and taking that remark to my thoughts.
It was bound to happen at some point.
"Clever girl you are." I said. "Didn't take you long enough to get that far?"
I continue to take out the books and other dust collectors on the shelves as I wait for her to respond.
"It took me the same time to realize how much of a fucking sociopath you are."
Damn this girl never gets to cool down. "Oof." I leave a sympathetic effect on my voice, caressing my chest as if I got shot. "You know I'd think I'm starting to realize why you work for such a shitty agency."
I gotta keep moving either way. There's no lever to this bookcase but it's most likely an elevator with the dimensions this wide.
"That's funny, I'm starting to think that your training with yours is the reason why you haven't killed me yet. Bet a 5 year-old can aim better with a firearm than you." She snarks back.
For fuck sakes, Cade better find that button to this elevator or else I'll just get the hand grenade ready to explode. My distraction on this phone call is to be less than what I wanted but all it is just taking shots at each other by shit-talking.
